You might want to see if a BMW dealer wants to BUY The car (not ground it) and you get off scott free.
Looks like AutoVin let you off easy as all of those would appear in a non BMW inspection.
AutoVins for BMW do a deeper inspection and look at things like rim rash carefully.
so
Get it fixed yourself if you can get it for less
Pay it and walk away
See if a BMW dealer is willing to buy it and you don’t have to pay any of that.
This is important as some BMW dealers ground it and you get the charges anyhow.
I’m not sure what you mean on the 2nd part. If you are talking about the issues, that’s why BMW is a little more scrutiny on smaller items than say Kia.
But 14 chips on a windshield? That’s gonna get dinged.
Maybe it goes without saying, but when you get quotes from dealers don’t mention anything about the wear and tear or what the Autovin damage report said, etc. Just tell the dealer you’re interested in selling it, let them look at it and give you a quote.
Good point, let them decide it’s value as they see it.
Is there a threshold insurance companies use before increasing rates? I had a comprehensive claim for about $1800 a few years ago and feel like my rates went up. It was too late at that point to calculate if I would have been better paying by out of pocket.
Yea, if you walk into the dealer and say “I’m close to lease end and the inspection came back with $2400 in damages, I was hoping I could sell it to you guys to cut some of my losses” then don’t be surprised when their buyout offer comes back and is mysteriously $2200 under your payoff.
On a lease you don’t own the car…BMW does in this case and they dictate how they want it back. You have found one of the downsides to leasing by not taking good care of car.
Are you getting another BMW? You can call the lease end team once the bill comes out. They may waive all or some of the charges for good will. As someone else mentioned try and see if you have any equity before turing in.
