BMW IX's Literally Rotting on the Lots

Truth to power right there. People with money generally won’t buy those substandard EVs, but people looking for a flea market deal will ‘cuz BigGov and BigAuto make it so easy.

I think the economic numbers provided by the gov, retail comms and finance shops are masking the real issues with consumer confidence, underemployment, housing and inflation. Those EVs are a victim of that shadow economy.

The issue with the EQS is that Merc dealers held those cars (and really were encouraged to) until a break point far beyond what should be allowed happened.

IMHO, The iX was handled differently and while I’ll admit I’m not moving 50+ of these per month, people do want them and a price point that’s similar to a comparable X5 x40 seems to be the ticket.

There is absolutely no reason for an iX 50e to lease cheaper than an X3.

Ya I wasn’t buying the 697/mo, big difference from what I’ve seen so far. The calc you shared is the MSRP I’m looking for, just waiting on the right config, that’s why I’m happy to order for that price, but ok waiting in case new inventory comes in since those 12% discounts are on in stock only

Without charging infrastructure and 5 minute refills - full ev is a joke - hybrid worldwide is probably the best

In 50 years yes EV’s maybe the method of transport but I probably won’t be here -

My advice is send that risky text - full steam ahead!

Exactly!! :100::100:

The government pushes the agenda ahead but they don’t invest in the infrastructure that’s needed

Even where I live the nearest charger is a 20 minute drive while multiple gas stations can be had within 2 minutes. Complete waste of time.

You realize most EV owners charge at home and only use fast chargers when going a long distance, right?

EV’s are perfect daily drivers because no concern for range anxiety and you can charge at home. I get it’s not for everybody–I wouldn’t consider an EV if I lived in an apartment building or if I did a lot of road trips. Also there’s the costs involved of affording one and setting up a level 2 charger at home.

I didn’t buy an EV to save the planet, I bought it because it’s fast as heck and really convenient to live with on a daily basis.

Compared to my previous daily driver that took premium fuel and had 16 mpg, I save about $400 a month on my commute.

With that said I still have a V8 in the garage too, so I have the best of both worlds.

My nearest charger is a one full second away from where I park.

That charger was basically free after the government incentives.

Thank you fellow taxpayer. You made this possible.

You’re welcome.

I have orders available at 10% off with base MF.

Thank you future taxpayers. It’s all just debt at the moment.

Went to the dealership today and was told they have a self imposed recall on all the IX’s right now because of an issue with the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. They wouldn’t let any one test drive any of the ones on the lot.

Looks like they’re labeling it a stop sale”

My dealer probably didn’t know about this, I stopped in and test drove one yesterday lol

Some units have already been remedied, got one in stock now.

what ended up being the fix?

Software deal, it had to do with driver assistance getting toggled inadvertently at low speeds.

Real problem with the EQS is reliability. I had one and Mercedes bought it back last month after 50+ days in the shop. I talked with the some SA’s and I am not the only one with the issues. They weren’t minor, it was every safety/driver assistance feature failing including airbags.

That being said, it was an amazing vehicle to drive and my wife was pretty bummed about getting rid of it. If they can get the SW stabilized these leases will go down as some of the best in history.

Regarding all the hyperbole about issues with EV’s, the EQS was our first one and from a use/long rage driving experience it was excellent. 350 miles of range meant that we only had to charge it away from home on long trips. When we did take long trips with, it charging was less than 30 minutes and after driving for 4 hours we were ready to eat/bio break/walk around for a few minutes.

The experience was so good that my wife refuses to consider an ICE vehicle now because she hates going to the gas station. Car was always ready to go in the morning with a full charge if necessary, but really we only charged it about once per week.

I do not view this from an environmental standpoint, my daily is a Ram 2500 diesel, it is purely convenience/comfort. The new crop of EV’s from real manufacturers (looking at you Tesla) are a stellar driving experience. They are smooth/quiet/quick when driving and only having to use a charging station when driving more than 300 miles round trip is awesome. Once regular drivers experience EV’s adoption is going to accelerate massively IMO.

BTW been considering an iX M50 for myself, probably with a sticker of around $100K. What should I be shooting for in terms of discount? I might step up to an M60 if I can find the right deal.

I’ve got just the M60 for you and it’s in stock! :slightly_smiling_face:

How is EV a novelty when that’s all that Ford, GM and other major automakers will be making in 10 years. Just like the horse and buggy, the ICE will be replaced by EV. Look at the charging network deals just signed between those two and Tesla.
