BMW Individual Impact on Lease Terms?

Does individual color options just increase the MSRP of a BMW lease or is it a separate fee? Can I simple adjust the calculator numbers to reflect the higher MSRP?

Looking at ordering and i5 with an individual color option

Just increase the MSRP and it’ll residualize the same. Obviously, you won’t be getting much of a deal on a special order. How much that color is worth to you?

Correct, just add $5k to the MSRP (assuming you had Alpine White selected and your exterior color was $0 to begin with). Keep in mind individual paint increases the production time by about 4 weeks. But depending on the color, it may be worth it. And on a lease that $5k premium is residualized, so you end up paying only about 45-49% of it depending on your mileage allowance (i.e., an extra $65-75/month). Hopefully it’s a special color! Share pics if you end up getting it

That is kind of what I was thinking. Do you have a dealer that could work this deal? I am not in a rush so extra 4 weeks is no problem. I am in Arizona and willing to ship or travel to pickup in Cali. I am looking for i5 M60 with ~14% off plus incentives. I also have corporate discount code from my company.

I think you’ll be hard pressed to find a dealer willing to do 14% off MSRP + rebates on a factory order i5 M60. There are only 7 allocations in all of CA for an order and only one allocation in all of AZ, just to give you an idea of the supply. That type of discount is more common on an in-stock unit.

What color do you have in mind? Do you have a plan B if you can’t get your color for a reasonable price, say a different color or a wrap?

I wanted to go with Fire Orange or Turkish Blue, but based on what ZZ said about allocations, I might have to pass. TBH, I am not completely in love with the i5, but getting a unique color would sway me.

How about wrapping?

Why would you waste money wrapping a leased car?

Same reason as willingly overpaying on a custom order.

Some of BMW’s stock colors are so rare that they’re borderline unique.

I don’t think I’ve seen a single Cape York Green or Vegas red bmw in any shape let alone an I5.

I see where you’re coming from. It’s an unnecessary expense. However: Any option increases your price over a base model and could therefore be called an unnecessary expense. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a comment calling premium pack or M-sport or DAPP an “overpayment” — the worth of any option is in the eye of the beholder.

That being said if residualized individual paint and non-residualized wrap are in the same ballpark personally I’m choosing the known quality and durability of BMW factory paint over wraps.

It’s all about striking a balance between what the heart wants and budget (or brain) allows. To each their own!
