A little bit of an unusual question, but are all of the EU options available for a US build? I was playing with the US configurator for the 440, and noticed there are certain options such as black headlight housings and the display key that are options in the EU market however not offered for the US. Additionally is it possible to get red ventilated seats? While I do understand this won’t be a hackr worthy lease at all, I’m just curious as to what the limitations are.
There are often changes you can make in store with an advisor that cannot be made on the online configurator.
Just one example if an X6M I ordered for a client this week. The GSM was able to order Lime Rock Grey for him, but that is not a color offered on the website.
Curious if anyone knows why the below restrictions exist? Paint Reflectivity? Thickness?
LCA being removed almost seems to me like it would be a very specific sensor compatibility concern, but I’m a bit surprised that they haven’t figured something like that out on a 120k vehicle.
By any chance, does anyone here have an individual color recent vehicle with 5AU? Have you tried decoding 8TR manually?
There is a post on the BimmerPost X5M forum explaining removal of LCA for individual paint colors. IIRC it has something to do with the metal in these individual paint colors and how it impacts sensor functionality.
Wouldn’t surprise me to hear that some of the colors with a lot of metal flake in them interfere with the radar systems.
