Not sure if an EV that looks a lot like a $50K 4-Series Gran Coupe will make a good competitor to the Tesla S, et al. I’m also disturbed that I don’t find the grille as off-putting in this application. I hate being de-sensitized.
My own opinion (assuming the car is roughly the same size as a 4-Series Gran Coupe) is that it would be a natural competitor to the 3. However, multiple article say that it is expected to compete against the S. My assumption is that BMW has dropped hints to journalists that the price will be more in line w/ the S than the 3. To which I say, GLWT.
Yes, this looks better. But the i3 has a “form follow function” aspect. It was ridiculous-looking but probably made a lot of sense as an urban runabout.
I would say that the i4 more recognizable as a BMW. Not sure if that means it’s better looking than the iX. Had the iX come from another (any other) company, I might’ve thought, “Oh, that’s kind of interesting-looking…”
Yeah, just took another look at the iX. Yup, it’s hideous.
I imagine they will look quite different in real life and am interested to see the dimensions for the i4. Assuming the Audi looks like the concept and is proportioned Taycan, it will be sleek and low slung.
The i4, to my eye, looks a bit bloated, and the blacked out lower body seems to be successfully reducing a lot of visual “weight” in the design.
