Have any of you recently had lease end inspection for your BMW i cars? I had scheduled with AutoVin the last time for my previous i3 and I had to go through Autovin. My lease inspection is due and I did not receive any instructions on the mail hence asking. BMW i Concierge has no clue.
I did it 2 months ago. Never returned any “non-electric BMWs” before, but I think the process is easy and straightforward. You can do a “pre-inspection” to have peace of mind, and if that’s good, then the final inspection should be good, or you got some time to fix it up.
I am specifically trying to figure out whether BMW still uses AutoVin (3rd party inspection company) for the final inspection for its i brand cars or did it change?
I have had four i3. The first 2 of them were inspected by the third-party. The last two were done at the BMW dealership. It was explained to me that initially BMW didn’t feel dealerships had the specific knowledge for these cars to handle the inspection, thus the use of the third-party.
mine was done at a dealership 2 months ago.
I did my pre-lease return inspection last week at a BMW dealership. I was told AutoVIN used to handle all i3 lease returns but now you can also do it with the dealership.
I found a dealership that was able to inspect the car, and had zero issues at lease turn-in.
Thanks folks .
Yes they do as of May 3.
When I was leasing it this year, they told me dealership. I didn’t have to go through Autovin.
I have lost the 2nd key as well as the home charging cord. Yes i am a loser haha.
I find the cord online for 180 bucks but no way to get the key.
Do they definitely notice it during inspection?
Yes, they definitely check that you return both keys.
How about the cord?
Yes they will check for the cord.
Charging cable is in the lease return check list. I’ve also lost a key but it’s only $250 per key, which is much better than I thought.
I know…who woulda thunk a few decades ago that a key would be more than $5………
See you should have gotten key insurance in the finance office!!! Just kidding …
This is what a new i3 key costs…I have a spare from a few years ago. It prob cheaper to pay the $250 at lease end.
Man, that sucks. 250 for key and 200 for cord, ahhh. Is the key purchasable at a lower price or is it unique to the car.
