Does BMW include GAP coverage or is it an an additional optional coverage on leases through BMW Financial?

Yup, comes along for free with a BMWFS lease. There’s nothing stopping you from buying dual coverage though. Most folks would (justifiably) say that is a complete waste, but my insurer offers it so cheaply I do it anyway. It’s literally like $.50 a month per car.
So what does the extra coverage get you? Does it cover the deductible?
It is included with every lease, but it is not with an owner’s choice.
It probably gets me absolutely nothing. I just figure that for $.50 a month (in the event there was ever some sort of discrepancy/disagreement between BMWFS and my own insurance company) perhaps it could prove useful.
