BMW Financial Services Launches Vehicle Subscription Service in the U.S. ($2,000-$3,700 per month)

source: bmw press release

During the pilot phase, Access by BMW memberships will be offered in two tiers ranging from $2,000 - $3,700 per month, inclusive of vehicle maintenance, insurance and BMW Roadside Assistance. Additional tiers allowing even greater access to a broader range of BMW vehicles will be added as the program expands. The two initial tiers are:

  • A “Legend” tier will include a selection of BMW sedans, coupes and convertibles, as well as BMW Sports Activity Vehicles such as: The BMW 4 Series (coupe and convertible), BMW 5 Series and plug-in hybrid BMW 530e iPerformance, the BMW X5 Sports Activity Vehicle, plug-in hybrid BMW X5 xDrive40e iPerformance Sports Activity Vehicle, and the BMW M2.
  • A highly emotional and exhilarating “M” tier will consist of BMW’s most powerful and highest-performing models such as: BMW M4 convertible, the all-new M5, BMW M6 convertible, as well as the BMW X5M and BMW X6M Sports Activity Vehicles.

Looks great, huh guys?

I wonder how many miles they’ll let you drive per month

I would find this compelling for ~$1000/month for the base tier and $2000 for the M tier.

From a purely budget perspective, its a terrible deal - but cars are also a hobby for many of us, so getting to swap out between various models at-will would be great…

What am I missing here? $2000/mo? I hope they include unlimited mileage and fuel.

I have to wonder if this isn’t partly aimed at higher-end concierge services.

Ya if they offer unlimited car switches (or like once per day) then I could see this. Have clients flying in all the time and BMW will pick them up in any BMW of choice and then drive them to and from the airport. That would be cool for a business expense.

Also, I would find this valuable if I could use the service in other cities.

IIRC, Cadillac had one of these services in the NY region for ~$1500/month. Similar terms.

My parents were selected for it – they wanted to do it, but they had poured 5000 in their car in the meantime (of being accepted into the program and applying) and didn’t want to do it

IDK, for comparison, Porsche has a similar program with unlimited mileage (currently in Metro Atlanta Area) for $2000 and $3000.

I’d much rather be driving a 911, Panamera, and Cayenne for less than the $3700 for the M cars.

if I had a traveling sales job or something, I’d do this in a heartbeat. Unlimited miles in a 911?? amazing! My old manager was racking up 40k miles a year visiting sites from PA to Upstate NY.

I found a pretty sweet one for $2300 - well out of my budget. It includes tax, maintenance, insurance and most of the cars are over 6 figures

looks like this one is South Florida only for now

I almost wonder if you could do it on a month-to-month basis. Pay $2k for a month as a gift to someone to let them drive whatever they want for a month?

This is great for your typical C level white male that has disposable (err…company) money to show up to the country club in the car of their choice.

Sensible people that can still afford this could have a fleet of cars for that amount. At that point, spend that on a yacht and get some real bang for your buck.

A mortgage on wheels…

I was thinking the same thing, they should throw in use of BMW dealership accommodations so people can replace their mortgage payments with this…

Too much for this cheap bastard. I’ll continue to find lucrative leases, and pay my own insurance. Switching cars would be nice, but not THAT nice

Sure makes that $600 Volvo subscription look awfully nice.

There is a lot of people that have 2k to 5k dollar car payments on I8, porsches, Bentleys, tange rovers etc.
Because we chose to find 200 dollar car payments onn 40k cars there are many people where payment does not matter. No everyone is poor lol

The Porsche one is much better imo

If I can drive an M3, X5m, and an M6 for $1,700-$2,000 a month I can see the value but $3,700… Not going to be very popular. Besides I know people that have all 3 and just rent them out when they are not driving it make most of their money back.
