BMW: Dealer says no MSD on 39-month lease

I am close on an X7 with a dealer in NJ (10k/39mo) but the salesperson has advised that MSD isn’t an option on this deal and is only offered on a 36-month deal.

With the residuals/MF currently more favorable on 39-month, it would appear that going for 39-months no MSD is better than 36-months with MSD.

However, I’m trying to validate whether the “no MSD on 39-month” is accurate or whether the dealer just doesn’t feel like moving any further. Does MSD actually influence the P/L to the dealer or is it entirely a BMWFS thing? If the latter, why does the dealer care?

Thanks

I got my x7 last month and RV was same as 36 vs 39. I opted for 39 months.

I think dealer might be messing with you trying to mess with your head if it’s still same RV as 36 months. MSD will lower your payment a lot.

Maybe @IAC_Scott can chime in

Also MSD on a $1300+ payment? Holding up close to $15K is a lot especially if you ever want to transfer out of it

It’s not true, you can do MSD’s, they may just be one of those stores that doesn’t “like” doing MSD’s and tries to discourage it.

If you really want, for amusement, ask him to draw you up a 36 month lease with MSD’s instead and see how they wiggle out of that.

Thanks for this. Separate but related topic; do PA dealerships offer MSDs? The few I’ve spoken to don’t seem very familiar with the concept but it could just be the salesperson I’m talking to.

They can definitely do MSDs on 39-month. I do it everyday.

Nothing stopping them from offering msd. If they’re unfamiliar just walk them through it yourself
