BMW 650xi Convertible Lease

I’m shopping around 650xi convertibles, but the deals look pretty bad. I haven’t leased a car in over 10 years, so looking for some advice. These cars aren’t even being sold anymore (being replaced by the 8 series in June) and I heard that bmw’s are decent to lease, so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Below is one of the better deals I got (and is after negotiations).

We need two leasehackrs. One leachackr economy for people looking for hacks at 200-300 for 30-40k MSRP.
One leashackr concierge for those looking for 1400-2000 and 100+k MSRP.

The above deal belongs to the concierge level. I think the conceirge would advise this is a bad lease and to try to get at least 20% off MSRP.

What part didn’t you like ? Where would you like to be ?

$1,435.24/mo with that much down just seems very high to me. I’m getting similar prices on a 911 cab and porsche’s are said to lease a lot worse. Coupled with the fact that these cars are slow to sell and now being replaced with something much better, I figured I’d be closer to $1k/mo. Even on a 650xi with 2k miles (was a demo car), they won’t go below $1,350/mo and want $7k down. I’ve only tried dealing with car dealerships so far, maybe a lease broker can get better rates?

Going to need ~25% off for an under 1K payment with minimal down

Good point… I have seen these cars discounted a good amount, but you’re probably right that $1k/mo is a stretch (unless I put more down). However, demand for these cars is very low now with the 8-series coming in June, so I’d hope for more than a 10% discount, especially for those with miles. So far, the dealers I’ve talked to haven’t budget though. Something like this would have been great though:

That’s 5K!!! drive off with under 1K payment.
Read up through the forum. You want to avoid money out of pocket. Car gets totaled or stolen and that money is gone.

Good point, thank you for the info, I didn’t even think about that. Yes - $5k drive off with $1k - the best I have been able to get from local dealerships is $1,400/mo with $5-7k drive off though

They’re about to release the 8 series, which is replacing the 6. This car will be heavily discounted in the near future. Your deal is also a very poor deal.

Any suggestions on how to get a better one?

Cast a wider net as far as where you are, if you have to fly to another state for a better deal, I would. Also, if anything, see what a broker can do for you. With the more expensive cars like this, someone with connections might be able to do more then others.

if you can find one near you on swapalease i think it’s a good alternative. Usually people that drive cars in that price range aren’t trying to “recoup” anything they put down upfront and are just happy to get out of the car (and are often willing to even pay an incentive). @vhooloo idea is def worth exploring

The ones currently on swaplease are the 640 (not 650). The 650xi I’ve seen on swaplease are at the same price point as dealers are giving me. Any lease dealers someone can recommend?

At any car above $100k, I first check swapalease. They always have something better than any other dealer quote. I mean you wont find a car right away but patience pays off even more.

My experience with family member is that when you’re generally looking to buy/lease a $100k+ car, you want it exactly the way you want it in terms of color, options etc.; Swapalease is great if you’re willing to compromise.

I agree 100%. All my cars have always been custom (I’ve also avoided leases). I just need a car ASAP now, so something like swapalease would have been perfect for a short term lease if there was anything good on there. I reached out to a couple of lease brokers, we’ll see if anyone responds. Thanks for all the help guys!

If it’s an ASAP situation, why not rent a car for a month and take some of the time pressure off of yourself. Enterprise rents Exotics, so you can enjoy a fun ride while you take your time.

Turo might be another option as well.

Pricing was pretty crazy. Not a super emergency, I probably have ~3-4 weeks, but definitely not enough time for a custom order.
