BMW 330i xDrive or 328d xDrive Wagon?

Any opinions on these wagon’s? Currently looking to lease one, quotes I am receiving are within dollars of each other. Vehicle will be primarily a 3rd vehicle for household, used mainly for commuting. The obvious advantage of the diesel being fuel economy. Besides that, they appear identical. Thoughts? Experiences?

I’d go for the 330i unless you need the fuel economy, or just really want a diesel wagon. The engine in the 330 is excellent for day to day driving.

I’ve had 328d loaners while my 328i was in service. For day to day driving, the 328d is very nice – great fuel economy and equally refined in stop-and-go traffic (surprisingly). It feels punchy around town.

Once you’re out on the open road, the performance does fall flat. It never feels or sounds stressed because it doesn’t rev high, but flooring it at highway speeds doesn’t elicit much of a response; it gains speed very gently. The car doesn’t feel that much quicker at full throttle vs. half throttle.
