Better Than a Lease? A Non-captive Balloon Loan Primer

Any Credit Union in NJ doing 5.49 at 24 months for Balloon loans?

I haven’t been able to locate the AFG Hot Sheets in a minute. Has anyone been able to find them?

Very much appreciated

AFG now has programs for 2024 Rivian R1S and R1T, 2024 Cybertruck Base & Beast and 2025 G580e (G-wagon EV). Programs aren’t very good as new, but are interesting to watch as used prices fall.

I noticed last month they added 2024 Lucid programs as well

Seems like a good opportunity here for someone- Consider a used F350 Crew Cab 6.7L XLT at $318/mo for 24mo at 15K miles per year (plus TTL). Just not my kind of vehicle.

so at the end of the term you either pay off the vehicle/get out of it (hopefully avoiding negative equity)?

At the end of the term, you have the option to return the vehicle, and walk-away, or refinance, and keep it.

Thank you!

Maybe I need to do more than just read your opening post then scroll to the end and read up a bit, but where would I actually find that F350
You reference for sale or vehicles like that? I looked at the AFG hot sheets and didn’t see anything close to that.

You would need to search the typical used vehicle sites (autotrader, cargurus, etc) to find a well-priced option. Or work with a wholesaler to get one from Manheim. Here are some potential examples-

Sketchy dealer but priced close to wholesale-
2023 Ford F-350 Super Duty For Sale in Salt Lake City, UT

Offered by reputable Ford dealer but needs to improve price-
2023 Ford F-350 XLT 4 Door Crew Cab Truck in Nashua, NH

Where is @holeydonut … its not even EV content.

Got it. I used Car Gurus to find similar ‘great’ deals and tried plugging the VINs into this calculator and am not finding anywhere near those payment results.

I replicated $325 per month. Did you choose the 6.7 liter diesel?

My taxes were lower for my zip and I used lower miles on odometer I’ll try and send you my screenshot

I was not financing tax and fees into the loan. Since the APR is high, I’ll pay this upfront as part of the DAS (TTL). With your calculation, I would suggest only 7500 miles since excess miles are at $0.10 per mile. I would go for more miles only if you need to increase the RV to get a term to fund. Even as you have it structured @ $522; it’s not a bad value for 24mo including tax.

Agree it’s not terrible and provides an intriguing option. I hadn’t played around with any upfront options, but as you mention, I would consider those given the interest rates. I just wanted to make sure i wasn’t missing out on something that could have made it even more appealing

I’m not sure I’m smart enough to figure out how to replicate this even after reading this thread a half dozen times. But, considering I need a new truck and just moved to a state where sales tax on vehicles is capped at $500, I’m sure going to try.

What state?
