Best time to lease in NJ

Hello Hackrs,

I am new to the forum but have been lurking around. Thanks a lot for all the advice and tips on leasing.

I am looking to lease a new car this month in the $600-$800 range. Some cars I have been considering - 2018 Audi S4, 2018 Audi Q5, Jaguar Fpace 35t, Jaguar XF 35t, Maserati Ghibli SQ4 (might be pushing my budget even with the discounts).

Do you think any of these cars would be good to lease now or wait a couple of months ?

Most of the cars you listed is possible with your budget. The most basic “guide” here is that your monthly including tax should be < 1% MSRP with $0 down 36/10k. So you are looking at cars around $60-80k MSRP. The cars you listed do not lease very well so that may be where you end up. For Infiniti, MB or BMW, you should be able to get more MSRP for your money (like $70-90k).

It seems like you are not in a hurry so if you have time, it will be good to start doing your research and track it month by month. As you know, some of the fixed things change month-to-month like RV & MF and all you are really trying to do is find a dealer that is willing to give you 20% off and there are lots of factors that go into that and you won’t know until you ask.

It may be harder to get a good lease right now but you never really know. If you have a lot of time right now, might be good to check things out. If you get busy later, you may not have as much time to work the dealers

Thanks a lot Chris. As usual your advise is spot on. I have leased 2 BMWs (328i, 340i) in the past and so want to consider something “different”.

To be honest I landed up paying over $600 a month on <$60k cars, so obviously not a good deal. This forum has taught me much.

I would however like to see the recommended dealers wiki expanded. thanks.

The wiki was an experiment when some folks say “we need a wiki” – kudos to @michael and @littleviolette for making it work but I don’t think it is getting too much attention :frowning:

As far as “different”, cars that “don’t lease well” means just that – you are not going to get that great of a deal but people still do it, to each his own. It’s only for 3 years anyway.

As far as the BMWs, we have been seeing the 3-series in 5-series territory, not sure what that is about. $63k for a 340??

you should be able to get the 2016 leftover charger hellcat at about 650
