Best leasing lux SUV

, ,

I have had 3 consecutive x5 leases and the bmw programs, pricing, and residuals have gotten progressively worse. Started at $640/mo and now an x5 is probably running north of $1000/mo (w PA tax).

Seems like Audi and Volvo lease slightly better. Even MB demos aren’t that far off (perhaps even better than bmw).

Which luxury automaker do you think is currently the best lease value right now for a mid-sized to large SUV (think q7; x5/7; xc90 size)

Considering: Audi, MB, bmw, Porsche. Maybe Volvo (meh), infinity (meh), and Lexus

Also…

Since when did these lease brokers start charging $999+? Went away for 3 years and things done changed. Sheesh man. Some are $1300+. Wild stuff. But I guess if people pay it…

You get what you pay for. As for the broker deals, the Q7 and XC90 will def be cheaper than an X5 or X7. Doesnt mean they lease well though. Payment will still be pretty up there. QX80 might be the most car for the money since its huge and theyre already doing heavy discounts on it

Right. I don’t mean “cheapest” but rather monthly payment:msrp ratio.

Stated differently, which lux suv has the best value combo in terms of discounting off msrp, incentives, MF, residual.

Agree the q80 is definitely the most bang for the buck but I don’t really think the msrp is reasonable given what it is.

BMW used to pop at lease scores > 10 consistently. Now they just stink. I really miss those inflated residuals.

Check genesis gv70. Interior is nice, not sure about the performance aspect of it.

Willing to go EV?

Not sure why something as obsolete as the Q7 is the first name on your list while the QX60 is meh.

Not sure why anyone would pay $100/m more for the Q7 let alone $200-300 more. Even a Mazda CX90 P+ feels more appealing than the Q7

The Volvo is obsolete too but was a great deal in November (effective low 300s to 400 for a T8+). If you’re willing to wait one or more of these obsolete models will be back on sale.

Infiniti QX60 is probably the most “bang for your buck” … I know not the hottest SUV out there. But if value is your most important metric, then the Infiniti is probably it.

Thx. Yeah I think it’s the best option albeit not super exciting

My wife disagrees. Ha

Something else about Infiniti is the ability to pre buy your excess miles at $0.10 a mile as long as you buy them 30 days before lease maturity. I went over miles on my '23 QX80, but who cares, the miles were so cheap I’d rather pay for them vs put the miles on my M4

Does the QX80 use the same awful drivetrain from the Nissan Armada?

I had a rental for a few days that completely ruined any chance for ever buying/leasing a car with that transmission.

Theyre using the 3.5 V6 with the 9 speed auto. Last gen was the V8 with the 7 speed. Both still better than the CVT so :man_shrugging:

I’m warming to the qx80. Seems like a ton of car for $700/month. Kmart Escalade. Sign me up.

Broker deals are at a healthy double digit preincentive (some even claim 20%), low mf, and high residual. Its a solid competitor to the other entrants in the lease space if you can look past owning an Infiniti (brand cache is stupid but at this price point something that may matter).

I assume some small group of folks are probably jumping on the huge incentive pack as a long term ownership, but thats yet to be seen being a Nissan product.

Brokers crushing dealers on Infinity right now. I shopped broker offers and no dealer can touch it. BMW brokers have not been the same, imo. I can always replicate their deals locally. Nothing special

Yup, very easy to replicate, save the broker fee, which is ridiculous. Only use them is you need the car ASAP

Yep. These broker fees are absolutely insane anymore. Some upwards of 4-figures. Like, fellas, it isn’t that hard to email a few dealerships.

Just need to be well informed and do your research. Deals don’t happen in a day, takes time and effort.
And be willing to take a no for an answer.

I just use the broker deal as a stepping stone, what’s a realistic offer and go from there. And if you need help just ask people on the forum. @delta737h

Exactly. That said, the lease deal from one of these brokers on Infiniti is just hands-down better than anything I can find locally. So, if I go with the QX 80, I will almost have to go with them. Kind of weird but whatever.

A few other people had what look to be competitive deals on BMW, but then when you look, it’s a loaner with 10,000+ miles. The deal doesn’t look so good when you realize you’ll be putting tires on that car and brakes which is gonna cost you another $3500.
