Best lease/finance for a first sports car

Without prior auto history

If BMW will let you lease, it will be a 3 series or X1/X2, certainly not anything mentioned here.

You are entitled to try and lease something fun, your credit bureau says “reset your expectations, you’re on the wrong cars”. Definitely not halo cars, probably not magnets.

Let’s hope not. :joy:

You’ve been given a lot of suggestions and provided no feedback on them, so this appears to be turning into either a circle jerk or you hoping that someone will eventually send you a sweet lease deal. So can we close this thread and then you can post your request in the wanted ads, or do you have any questions pertaining to leasing?

You just said no previous auto financed/leased?

Definitely not $1,000/month, then

Ha…with the marker going insanely high each day everyone is feeling rich however I doubt anyone remembers the dot com bubble bust and financial collapse of 08. Fast forward and more bubbles so everyone is feeling ohhh so good right about now.

I do! I do!

In addition to 08, I remember 01…I was obviously much younger at the time, but I do remember folks who were planning to retire in the next year or two around then who ended up having to work for 10 years or more because of the crash😢

If you’re planning to retire in a year and all your assets are tied up in the market, you’re either greedy or stupid, prob a little of both…no sympathy for these types. The people I feel bad for are savers that have their savings wiped out by unnecessary inflation just bc they’re too conservative or risk averse to keep money in the nyse casino

Regardless this guy is doing fine. He has no debt, owns his home outright and likely 100k income. Get something fun, I would buy something already depreciated like a 911. Drive it 2 years and rinse and repeat, or build up credit and lease.

Never once did I regret traveling, enjoying my life and driving nice cars in my early/late 20s. Could I have invested more? Sure. Life’s short. You’ll likely marry have kids then no more 911. Do it now!

I agree 100%, I would never put myself in that position.

The flip holds true as well, the way things have gone this year makes absolutely zero “cents”, yet if one stood on the sidelines as I have mostly, you’ve “lost” a lot of money.

911s dont depreciate. They appreciate.

Of course. You have to have a age based asset allocation. During the dot com I had a coworker bought 26 exotics. He sold them and bought a Toyota. But he maybe lost 20% while others lost more selling their options and putting them back in the market.

I think a lot of folks did have that type of allocation, but they were accelerating their retirement plans, and then they found out they had to work the same amount of time anyway, LOL.

$1000 a month? Get a camarro AND a hellcat. You are welcome…

Anyone want to try and hack this GT2 RS?

OP can purchase anything they qualify for. The Camaro is a maybe-maybe, no way they’d be offered a lease on a Hellcat.

If they have significant assets, and they bank with someone who is a captive (eg Jamie Dimon’s den of sin), they might swing an Evoque. Without Chase PC I doubt they would hang an STI, unlikely a WRX. Likely a BRZ (which is the sound you make when you fall asleep driving it).

Terrible lease but VW would probably hang a GTI. Someone else mentioned a Supra - maybe? Some Acura and Lexus might be possible. Some lower-priced Audi As but not a single S.

The fact that the car is at Herb Chambers means even if it were 199 a month Id still have to think hard to decide if the painful sales process would be worth it…

OK, Ive thought about it. For 199 a month, I will put up with their hijinks.

With $200k down, the car is yours. :grinning:

EDIT: I do not want to hijack OP’s thread. I am sure he has a lot to think about.

Wise words from a decent man.

My addition- add the M5 comp to consideration. M5/M8 comps literally smoke everything out there.
You’ll have to bump your budget up though. $1K is M3/M4 money. not M5/M8 money. $1300/1400 can get you a decently equipped M5C.

I wouldn’t really consider any other brands/makes at this price point. BMW has the best options and the cars are quicker than many other brands that are substantially more expensive. The value for money is unmatched imo.

See if you can snag a deal on a leftover M4CS. That should be in budget. As long as commuting for work isn’t an issue or if you have access to AWD cars you should be fine. I’ve had an M3/M4 for several years now living in the NE. Definitely possible.

There’s quite a few swaps for them out there as well.
