Best hybrid full size SUV

Thank you in advance.

I’m getting a lease for my dad (CA, tier 1, 10k mileage) trying to get him into a full size suv we recently got into construction so we need the large space.

Anyone know dealerships who are discounting heavily on the stock which they have had for over 300+ days? Or does that not matter anymore. After speaking to a handful of dealerships the 24s go for the same price as 25s.
I tried the marketplace I still think for a Mazda cx90 with 2500 down and 600 is high for this car.

Do you think it’s a good time to wait. I honestly don’t think the dealerships are selling anything these days. I might be completely wrong.

By hybrid, do you mean a mild hybrid, full hybrid (HEV), or plug-in hybrid (PHEV)? What type of driving will the vehicle see?

Full-size SUV typically refers to body-on-frame trucks like Expedition, Tahoe, or Wagoneer, which aren’t available as a hybrid.

The most spacious hybrid SUV is something like a Grand Highlander or Lexus TX, neither of which are particularly good lease candidates. Both of those can fit adults in the third-row.

If only kids are going in the third row, then that opens up a number of more hackable midsize options like Mazda CX-90 PHEV, Kia Sorento HEV or PHEV, Hyundai Santa Fe HEV, and Toyota Highlander HEV. A Pacifica Hybrid minivan will be more spacious than any hybrid SUV, and there are decent leases for those as well.

Separately, why shop for an SUV if this is being used for construction? None of these are particularly good work vehicles. A pickup or commercial van will be better suited for the job.

I can do a pretty solid deal on a Tucson plug in hybrid. Take a look here.

Dealer discount of 7% + $6000 rebates + buy rate on the money factor.

Sell him a Sorrento PHEV since he wants something larger

Sorento PHEV EX trim would be $2K due at signing and $479/mo with LA tax. 949-775-1714.

I will have him test drive the sorrento but i thought it was small!

Its more bringing items for our handyman not a full blown construction company.
Lexus and Toyota are not willing to budge at all.
I would like to get him the Large size SUV (grand Cherokee, cx90, palisade etc.
Not paying 100k for a wagoneer.

I might look into the used market and purchase it with a CU with 5% or less interest

Get a used 2015-2016 toyota sienna

If you don’t need a third-row, maybe look at the CX-70 PHEVs? The CX-70 is the same car as the CX-90, minus the third row.

IMO if it’s hauling stuff for a handyman to end up being handy with. (but you want the car to be new/nice so it doesn’t stink up your driveway). Then I suggest you get a used 2024 Ford Ranger Supercrew XL RWD.

The width between the wheelhouses in 2024 widened to 48.2 inches so you can fit 4’ sheet rock and plywood. The truck won’t be flashy/large like a F150.

This listing at Carmax will give you a starting point on what it’ll cost you.

Or get a real truck like @DailyDriven and flex all day long.

Thank you all for your help. My dad won’t drive a truck already tried.

Thoughts on this new but 4K mileage 2024 jeep grand Cherokee 4xe?am I pulling my teeth in the month of June should I wait until may June when they may be desperate?

Will your dad drive a minivan? Because that’s hands down the best alternative vehicle for handi-use. Unless the whole Handyman is an obfuscation and your dad just wants a new car but needs to tell your mom it’s a handy car.

Specific to the CDJR… if the whole point of this vehicle is for it to be reliable and be available when you need it since time = money; then you do not want a CDJR product. @djrabbi

Do you know of a california CU with rates under 5% currently?

Ah, i did see them the other day but they have a fairly limited foot print with only 3 counties.
I wish the rates at the bigger state wide CU’s were better (example: patelco or golden 1)

My credit score is 800+. I never got the rate they posted there. :stuck_out_tongue:

Why not getting a large truck if he needs to haul large items for construction? Tundra leases are very aggressively priced, especially on the lower end trims and it does have the hybrid option.
