99% of dealers sell them at msrp or above so not sure buyers care about the engine much. Reclining seats and vacuums to handle their kids Doritos seem to be the main request
I do 1k off msrp with my fee inc and can’t get enough of them

I think I saw $1K Sienna leases in the marketplace . Yikes !
I have been shopping for an AT4 Yukon, there are a few different credit unions / small leasing banks that offer leases on them, I have gotten everything to $4k over MSRP to $5k off. The problem is I can not get the Residual/MF from these small leasing companies and dealers aren’t always the most transparent. What I can confirm is I have multiple quotes from $1,050 to $1,200 / month on $90k AT4’s with tax + fee’s upfront. Elevations can be had for $800-$1,000 depending on equipment / discount. I am in the NYC area. Happy to pass along some of the dealers who offer discounts / work with these smaller banks if this is something that interests you. It’s not a great deal by any means but to play in this segment of vehicle its going to cost you, Finance might be the play, but at this price point I’m comfortable staying in warranty and walking away in 3 years.
my family is in a very similar situation, trying to find a full size SUV for 7 people. we were initially thinking of the wagoneer but the forums and google searches turned us away from jeep/stellantis. which leaves only a few other choices in the full size SUV segment:
GMC/Chevy/Cadillac - terrible lifter issue, and a friend who had the 6.2L just fail on him on the highway. so dangerous! really turned us off from these.
Ford Expedition - expensive! transmission issues! but looks so nice! but just so expensive lol.
Nissan Armada/Infiniti QX80 - honestly we liked the Nissan more than the Infiniti - the Infiniti just had so much tech and very nice interior and what not, but did not feel like we needed it as a young family with kids. maybe later on once the kids are much more grown. the Nissan was more simplistic and what we liked, but there was a high MF and so leasing is not great
Lexus - so expensive omg
we started to consider mid size SUV’s like the Telluride (felt really light actually), Hyundai Palisade…
others have suggested to us a minivan. i don’t really like the idea…but..
Does the 5.3 have the same issues? It’s more than enough power. Also have the diesel option which is a little noisier but mileage is great.
as far as I know, there is only the recall on 6.2 L V8’s. there is also a stop sale on new 6.2 L’s, but this affects nearly close to a million vehicles. that’s insane.
5.3 L hasn’t been recalled yet, but plenty of users have posted that they have had issues with their 5.3 L’s which leads one to believe that GM may be forced to act. i personally didn’t feel “safe” going with the 5.3 when the 6.2 was such a mess. the diesel on the other hand is a good option if GM products is what you have to have and yeah, who wouldn’t love the escalade (?!) but also requires other considerations with having the diesel such as price. just having my friend’s full size SUV crumble in the highway though, that is an experience that no one wants to have.
Oh im sure u do, one of my neighbours just picked up one after apparently waiting 4+ months for his order. And i see so many of them. Its just the drive quality. I got a one way rental from FLL to ORD last year to catch a missed flight. With 3 suitcases and 5 passengers that thing sounded like a lawnmower with no movement.
To me it just doesnt make sense why they would put a Camrys setup on an 8 passenger vehicle.
If it’s a lease I wouldn’t over think it. If you plan to buy and put 100k miles on it then there is something to think about.
I get what yall are saying- but most of my family could care less about the engine whine and they appreciate the hybrid and cvt pairing for its “linear”/“EV-like” acceleratinon. Regen brakes suck.
I would probably stick with the odyssey when they refresh it. I felt like the odyssey felt like a mini sports car lol
“Walking away” as in, you won’t need a 3-row vehicle after the lease ends?
If you do foresee needing one again, then finance today + extending the warranty will leave you well ahead of two consecutive leases at these prices.
I would recommend checking out the Chrysler Pacifica. My wife loves her 2017 Touring L with over 140k miles on it. It seats 8 with the seats up. The 2nd row seats can be hidden away for more storage. It has a pretty efficient 6 cylinder engine, and it has been pretty reliable.
I can’t comment on the newer models (2024 or 2025), but if you are seriously considering a minivan you should definitely test drive one.
FWIW, when we were searching for a 3 row vehicle my wife looked at mid-size SUVs (not the Tahoe or Yukon). None at the time had decent space for 3rd row passengers.
Another topic, but I wonder why Toyota or Lexus haven’t put something in the market to compete with the Tahoe or Yukon. Probably could price at a similar price point and crush the market. They simply could make a bigger Sequioa or LX.
Short answer is 'cos they don’t need to.
I’d also make the argument that Toyota did a pretty deep analysis on what it took to bring a full size truck to the US market and the results of that effort.
Most likely concluded that while the Tundra has been successful, a full size suv would most likely have a similar outcome in terms of taking on the Yukon XL / Expedition / Suburban class of vehicle.
I did the math and it was close, considering a value of $30k (14 for sale in a 100mile radius, $21k-$34k) on a 6 year old Yukon its only about a $2k difference between back to back leases and a 72 month finance plus warranty.
