Any ideas what models I should be looking for? Almost all base models don’t come equipped with ACC.
If we’re talking sedans, these luxury cars have ACC standard…
Acura TLX
Lexus ES
Lexus IS
Lincoln MKZ
Genesis G70
Many mainstream sedans have standard ACC, too: Honda Accord, Civic, and Insight; Toyota Prius, Corolla, and Camry, to name a few.
The new Mazda 3 Select has an interior that rivals an Audi A3 or Mercedes A-Class and comes standard with ACC. Poor lease though; better to buy.
Love the G70 but I think they don’t lease well. Also like the Lexus IS but it’s to cramped for me. Also love the Mazda 3 and 6 but the leases don’t look that good.
I also have looked at BMW/Mercedes loaners to check if they come equipped with ACC but they are rare.
What in your opinion would be the best value for a luxury/sporty sedan with ACC?
Acura TLX. Interior is dated, but they lease extremely well. And all trims of TLX have pretty good ACC. I can vouch from personal experience because last year I leased a fully loaded TLX advance (MSRP $45k) for $383 + tax with $1k drive off.
Lexus ES. Brokers here have them in the $300s per month. No loaner BMW or Mercedes will have ACC.
Yea most cars priced in the 20k range now offer ACC. And to see Mazda offer it standard on on their 3 shows you that technology in all cars from Honda Toyota to BMW and Mercedes have closed the gap on technology. You don’t need to spend 50k, 60k 100k in luxury vehicles to get that technology any more.
I’m noticing how in higher end luxury vehicles they still make technology like a heads up display, navigation, lane assist and park assist add on options. It’s 2019 not 2002.
It’s almost like automakers are packaging up products in different ways to appeal to different market segments…
I’m glad that’s the case. There are some of us out there that don’t like these systems, and therefore don’t want/need to buy them. With it baked into the sales price, you don’t have a choice, meaning I’m paying for something I don’t want (it’s not free btw…you just don’t know the cost it’s adding to the car since there isn’t a line item for it)
Don’t want these systems? All the options I mentioned you could have without even know they even exist in the car. …so how would you not like them in the car? The options I mentioned as well aren’t that much to begin with, meaning the cost to the company.
Here is an option for the BMW x4 it’s. $1000 option
Convenience Tier
Includes the following features (3)
- Comfort Access keyless entry
- Lumbar support
- SiriusXM Satellite Radio with 1-year All Access Subscription
So for $1000 you get keyless entry that I had in my original Subaru back in 2001
Lumbar support which I had in my Honda Accord
And SiriusXM which has been out nearly 20 years and is nothing but an add on in the software.
Come on. That’s ridiculous. For a BMW!!!
Well yeah BMW is notorious for charging for every little thing, I mean they charged extra for a moonroof in the 2018 3 series models lol
Surprised they don’t start off with cloth seats and charge extra for sensa tec
You still get keyless entry. You just have to use the key fob…just like you did back in 2001, so I don’t see the argument. Comfort access allows you to just touch the handle to open/lock door without using the fob.
Don’t like the ala-carte model…don’t buy the car. Pretty simple, just like I don’t see the value in raising the MSRP to bake in items I don’t want to pay for that I’m ultimately not going to use.
Name 1 manufacturer who doesn’t charge extra for a sunroof on a base trimmed car? In order to get that “free” sunroof, you have to jump up to at least mid level trim and sometimes top.
BMW caters to a different market segment. They aren’t Chevy, Honda, etc, so the comparisons are just plain silly.
My next car will likely be a 750i.
BMW includes a twin-turbo V8 in this model for no extra charge.
I haven’t been cross-shopping Hondas, though, so maybe that’s nothing special.
Lol Bmw is shifting towards the MB mentality however they still nickle and dime for every little thing it’s insane, but the features are so good, yeah the 750 is a monster of a car, make sure to get sky lounge, my next (if good deal possible) would probably be a m550 I just love the understated look
The thing I hate the most (not only with bmw) is that that 5 series range of cars are 4 cylinders like cmon man I feel like Lexus IS the only one putting v6s in there cars at base
I can see how you would enjoy the roof, but I wouldn’t pay extra for it.
The only time I drive in the dark is on the way to the airport to catch an early flight.
FWIW, I also skip the salad at a restaurant when the menu is a la carte.
Not because I’m cheap, but… I mean, it’s salad.
I feel that the consumers that buy their rides don’t care about adding in thousands and thousands of dollars worth of options that should have been in the car already for the prices they charge. I see BMWs with regular halogen lights. Where are the crisp bright whites, the Acura TL came standard with those lights back in the late 90s on their 3.2 model.
So a $1000 so I can pull a handle without pressing the key fob to open the the door. Yep still a rip off.
What kind of car do you drive. Sounds like your car is option less…
53k 3 series. 220/mo. Has comfort access, roof, nav, heated front and rear seats, and doesn’t have any of the useless junk I don’t want. Fully loaded…no, but it has what I want.
You can buy Porsche’s that the cost of the options is higher than the base car.
And people pay for sports cars just to drive around traffic in LA.
People want the cars they want. Even Rolls-Royce makes you pay for options to be added on.
