I have a 2015 Porsche Cayman S but I’d like to get a entry/mid level luxury sedan? I previously had a 2 year lease that was pretty good on a Lexus GS350 F-Sport but that recently went back. Any thoughts? Ideally something with decent options and at the $350-500 month range with tax (on monthly payment) since I’m here in California (8% sales tax).
A left field option would be to start a lease on a BMW or Mercedes (two examples of companies that allow lease transfers) and transfer out of it in X months*
Assuming you get a good monthly payment it should be feasible to get out of it.
*Not in the first or last six months of the contract.
I know most have sweet spots at the 36 or 39 month mark but I’m ideally looking at the 24 month mark. In the past I’d look at the residuals/money factors of each but I figured this audience might have already done some of the research.
Most posts on here are about three year leases. Two year leases are rarely worth it since there is so much depreciation in a small amount of time. The only way it’s worth it is with heavy incentives from the finance company. I’ve seen Kia and Chrysler do this, but not any luxury brands.
If you are dead set on 24 months, just take a look around at some of the deals on here that interest you and then find out the numbers for 24 months.
A 2016 3-series sedan is a pretty decent two year lease. The residuals are in the 70s.
24/10K: 72% residual, .00136 MF
The 2017 model fares worse at 68% residual, showing once again that BMW FS residuals aren’t really grounded in reality.
Edit: The 2016 5-series has the same residual/MF as the 2016 3-series. A sub-$500 payment should be doable, especially if you do MSDs.
