Is the Aston Martin dbx not a desired car?

To be fair, when are 99% of any SUVs going to be used for SUV purposes? The people driving around in CR-Vs and RAV4s aren’t going off road very often (if at all).

SUVs are unquestionably more convenient and practical than a sedan. And, while people who can afford to spend $200-300K on a car are not worried about practicality, they still will probably appreciate stepping across to get in, rather then stepping down. Whoever is driving will appreciate the elevated seating position. And, if I’m the one driving, I sure as hell am gonna enjoy literally looking down on everyone else around me (since one presumably does not get a Bentley or Rollls to be anonymous).

Not like I know anything about the demographic that can afford these cars, but I assume that they want everything to be buttery smooth (the engine, ride, leather, etc.,), that they want the car to be silent inside while cruising, that they want a sense of invulnerability, a powerful engine (but not necessarily one that is overtly “aggressive” or obnoxious), and that they want presence.

None of those things are compromised by an SUV (if anything, they’re only enhanced).

A Bentayga or Cullinan is no more practical nor convenient than a Flying Spur or Ghost. That’s my opinion. If people are buying these cars to “step in” vs “step down” or to “look down on everyone” on the road, then okay maybe these cars are for you. That’s not why I buy an SUV though. Being elevated on the road is a more credible argument in favor, but I personally prefer the Range to achieve that.

That would be more my style, but it’s certainly not as in your face as a Bentley or Rolls. I’ve seen a few, and they’re pretty under the radar (almost too tasteful compared to what most cars look like nowadays).
