Yeah at some point the discount has already offset the MF markup.
I’m very guilty of perpetuating this before I learned what the average write downs actually were.
Will it stop me from trying anyway? No. But I will use this information gained to temper expectations when I’m hired to make a deal happen as I prefer to under-promise and over-deliver. It’s just good practice.
