This will be my first time negotiating a lease so I’ve been scouring this forum for tips and tricks. I asked this dealer if I could send them an offer but their response was this not so good quote for a courtesy vehicle (based on my research here).
I responded with my offer whether they wanted it or not. Should I even try negotiating this down to something more reasonable or move onto a different dealer?
That’s a mediocre discount; you can get that any day, any Cadillac dealership. You’re still in the first phase of the back and forth with bad quotes. You can either move on or bluff and say a competing dealership is willing to do 0 down, at 550/mon. At which point, you’ll see how serious this dealership is about earning your business.
If they think you’re bluffing, they’ll come back with an offer higher at like 600/mon or ask what features the other car has (ie “is it the same model?” ie the salesman games pt 2).
or they’ll ask you for proof in the form of a lease worksheet. Most people respond by saying dealerships aren’t willing to give these out. Its not common for a dealership to take you at your word and immediately try to beat that “offer”. At which point, you may have to give the exact price at which you’ll sign. So if you’re 100% committed at 500/mon, tell them that and they might meet you at like 525/mon, which would be a decent price for a lux2. You would be the best judge of how much room there is to push.
Honestly don’t know why bluffing is necessary - I’ll buy the car at the price I buy the car, or I won’t, why do I need another dealer in here?
Every day I walk past hundreds of cars I don’t buy.
Link below to my target numbers for that deal, I should be eligible for $7000 in rebates since its a loaner (none of which are reflected in their offer). When I typed in the offered deal on the calculator I couldn’t even get the monthly payments as high as they are showing. I assume since they didn’t disclose the residual they are either messing with that number or the money factor? Or am I crazy or just doing this wrong?
