AWD for under $200! Leased: 2019 Subaru Impreza 36/12 for $185 incl. tax, $1,000 DAS + Trade-in

I recently read on leasehackr that a 36/10 on an AWD car could not be had for under $200/month. My mom needed one for the mountains of Western NC so I thought I’d give it a shot. She had $1,000 for DAS and a high mileage 2008 Kia that Edmunds told me was worth $600 trade-in.

So 14 dealers and several hundred emails later, a simple 10 minute phone call got me to $185.79 (including tax/doc/fees/reg.) on a brand new 2019 Subaru Impreza 36/12 with $1,000 DAS + $1,300 for the trade-in, and they covered the cost of delivering the car and picking up the trade-in.

FYI, this is effectively ~$250/mo with $0 down so not under $200 for AWD

In my experience, Subaru is one of the brands with the least wiggle room.

I tried getting one for my sister over a period of 5 months and pretty much every month the numbers worked out to be $245 to $255 with $0 down

Lol. Just add additional $3000 down and you will get the payment under $100.

In this case it looks like it might be better to purchase the car and then sell it to a private party.

What do you mean $1,300 for trade in ?
How much they gave you for the Kia?

Yeah, reached out to 14 dealers over the course of 2 months and was finding the same thing, most were stuck around $250/month. If you calculate the 36/10 with a 3% difference I was quoted on the residual and $1000 DAS plus $600 for the trade-in (the blue book value) then it comes to ~$193/month + tax with $193 DAS.

He was the only dealer willing to give us $1300 on the trade in so we could get this deal.

Listen:
As long as you’re happy.
Enjoy that boxer and if you take care of it right, you Might just have some equity at lease end.

I have a similar deal in the NE. MSRP $23000 for a 2018 impreza, drove off in nov 2017, 42 mo/12 k miles/year all taxes included at $225/mo with a $1000 down.

How is bringing up your 2yr old lease deal relevant? 18-24mos ago, lots of folks were leasing AWD Buick Encore’s for under $150/mo, but still completely irrelevant in today’s discussion, as is your 2017 Impreza deal, which is effectively $250/mo w/ zero DAS.

Sorry captain, didn’t know sharing an older deal will offend someone. Encores aren’t really the same as an Impreza.

No offense, but this section is “Share Deals & Tips” so referencing old deals where incentives, MF & RV have changed and can no longer be replicated, doesn’t help anyone searching for a current deal.
