Surprised that inspectors only say excess is $635. So spoke to a vcfs rep who said they are more/less aligned with the 3rd party report and prices. I used for BMW in past and had no issue there as well.
Of note quote at dealership to replace taillight was $1250 last week and only $600 with autovin.
Seems logical to just turn in the lease as-is and hope that truly only $635 out of pocket as fixing the taillight at a body shop will surely cost more than that (difficult to find part alone for under $400).
No reason to worry, the inspection report is final and Volvo isn’t going to come after you for anything else.
The inspection damage charges are typically much more favorable than what the dealer would charge, nothing unusual there.
This is why we always always recommend getting the inspection before fixing anything, in many cases it’s way cheaper and easier to just turn it in and pay the damage charges rather than going through the hassle and expense of fixing things yourself.
I lost a key on my last Audi lease, dealer cost to replace it was something like $550, while the AutoVIN charge was only $125. No brainer.
Thanks for sharing this experience. I am having an AutoVIN inspection for my 2021 Polestar 2 today. Luckily I got some excess wear and tear coverage. I will create a post with their evaluation for my car.
Quick update:
Polestar covered around $3000 of minor issues including tire replacement. So I think my overall leasing experience from them was great.
