Audi, Volvo, BMW, Toyota, Subaru, Mazda or Lexus ? Best midsized SUV?

I’ve driven each of these in the past week, except the BMW
Lexus NX
Volvo XC60
Audi Q3
Toyota Highlander
Subaru Outback
Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring
BMW?

I’m getting lease quotes on each, not much cooperation yet.
I want to narrow down the field and start pushing the negotiations, but I’m struggling with my choices as I’ve driven Infiniti for the last 10 years. I want safety and a good leasing experience. I will probably buy or lease the same at the end of the term.
If you’ve got good or bad feedback on any of these brands, I would appreciate it!

Best can subjective
Best price?
Best SUV?
Best value for price paid?

If you are looking for the best deal, the Q3 and BMW can be tossed, also the XC60 does not lease well yet.
If value and price are a concern we have seen good deals on the NX, Outback and CX-9… The Highlander can also be had for 360-400 I believe but I would say its in a different class compared to the NX and Outback.

I just did almost exactly what you are doing, but with slightly different range of models. The ones you list there aren’t all that comparable to each other.

I ended up going with the 2018 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited. They’ve really classed up the interior of these cars and the safety features with Eyesight are awesome. This is our third Subaru and this one by far is the nicest. I was able to get the Outback for $294 w/tax. Details are in a couple posts I made. I wasn’t able to get the other brands anywhere close to that. (Tiguan, Tuscon, CR-V, etc).

Thank you! The Lexus dealer seems the most anxious to make a deal. I feel like I should push for the rx 350 for the NX price they gave me. I’d rather have a larger car but they all act like my budget of $525 is entry level only. Except the loaded Highlander which came in a $551 and Mazda at $529

My reply to you is in the post below actually… thank you!

I’m going to look into the outback. Thank you!

And look at the Forester, while you at it. It’s slightly cheaper than similarly equipped Outback. But if you plan on buying at the end, then Subaru is best just to buy and not lease due to very high RV.

What market are you in? You should be able to get a well equipped RX below $500. This was in Ca last month, and I think the money factor is even lower now.

What msrp and due at signing for that monthly

The msrp For the LX350 do you mean? I haven’t gotten one yet because he said it was out of my budget.

If you got a quote of over $500 for the Mazda and Toyota, I think you need to rethink your negotiating. Those are insanely high quotes. I fear you are shopping based solely on monthly payment and telling the dealer what you want to pay per month. I think you need to narrow it down to what you actually want because the difference in size between an NX and a Highlander is massive.

Perhaps its time you figure out which car you really want, or narrow it down to two. Then hire a broker.

If you were to ask me what car I’d want to drive, without concern for $, etc… XC60.

Only 2018 that is

I’m sure you mean RX instead of LX. The LX is close to $100k. Your local dealers might not be competitive, but the RX350 can certainly be had for under $500/month in many parts of the US.

JjCane I think that’s the one I want too. Right now I’m at $629 with 12k miles zero down. I need that lowered by $100 a month!

Yes, sorry! Interesting…the Lexus dealer said I could only get the NX. I’ll try again.

If that dealer will not budge than consider a few different options.

1: Hire a broker and have it delivered. Can likely save much more than you spend and you wont have to deal with the head ache of negotiating. Spend a few hundred and save a few thousand maybe.

2: Be willing to travel to other dealers further away. Can email them and talk on the phone to narrow down most of it. Just be careful of price bumps when you get there. Good use for a car rental so you are not trying to drive two cars back if you are not trading one in.

Good luck, I never saw many deals on it.
