Audi SQ5 vs BMW X5 m40i

Hi …We are Looking for a new sportier and smoother riding SUV . Currently have a 2018 Jeep Hemi.

We received a quote on a 2020 Audi SQ5 $64,777 MSRP

$670 a month $2,000 down 36 months 10,000 miles. How good or bad a deal is that? My taxes are SC.

I am also awaiting quotes in BMW X5 x40i loaner similar in MSRP. Does BMW leas whetted than an Audi ? I know the Audi is more luxury and the BMW is sportier and faster from driving them, both.

My target is into low $600’s for either 1. Is that realistic ? Has anyone seen these lease in the high 500’s?

BMW lease better then Audi for sure.
SQ5 is smooth to drive and nice interior and technology. X5 is a driving machine much different drive. I think quote on SQ5 seems higher to me.

Thank you for the input !

While BMW generally leases much better than Audi, SQ5 is one of the models that Audi leases ok. There have been a lot of postings on SQ5 w/ monthly <1% MSRP. I doubt there would be any on X5m. You can certainly find one SQ5 in the high 500’s w/ minimum down.

Does the Audi Q7 lease good or bad? It’s more comfortable in size to the x5 and standard motor seems good.

Are you comparing an 40i or an m50i? In either case, it’s apples to oranges, the X5 is a bigger model so no surprise on the power. On the other hand, if sportiness is a serious factor for you, the SQ5 has options like the S sport package that adds torque vectoring, air suspension, etc which definitely will give you more driving fun. You’ll probably make out on a better deal with the BMW but share back what they offer you and we can help.

Yes, leaning towards the BMW which even the M40 is quick at 5 seconds to 60 mph with a very underrated 335hp. I like the sportier characteristics and probably would need the sq7 or even s8 for size we prefer. I’ve seen a few nice loaners for sale around MSRP $65,000… what discount should I seek , and is a high $500’s payment $1,000 down 36 months 10,000 miles realistic ?

Have you searched the forum? There are many recent examples of both broker and privately negotiated deals with the X5. That might be most helpful to you.

I haven’t seen an SQ7. But Q7 is a three row crossover and the Q8 is a five passenger coupe style version of the Q7.

Your candidates span a couple different classes of vehicle.

You’re sort of all over the place here.

Seems likes you’re comparing X3 m40 and SQ5.

SQ7 isn’t on offer in the US yet, so you won’t be able to compare that to X5 m50. Either way, both X5 m50 and an SQ7 would be way way above 600 a month.

There are a lot of X3 m40 deals under 600 a month to be had, if you like the sportiness without sacrificing on price, I’d shoot for an X3 m40 loaner.

Q8s aren’t leasing anywhere near 600 a month, let alone an SQ8 that isn’t yet offered in the states. RSQ8 is coming, though, but that will most likely lease in high 1,xxx’s or low 2,xxx’s right out of the gate.

After narrowing down with my wife, primarily the X5 size is our goal in the $600’s (or less of course.) While I am sure the x3 has plenty of performance and deals the size is just a little small for us.

I did search the forums many were November deals on the west coast. I am Southeast , and will keep exploring both. I don’t care about the seating as much as interior cargo room!

Q7 2.0 leases good (easily mid 400s), not 3.0.

Really!! Wow will look at that

Definitely responded to a post where the payment was 479 on here for Q7.

The model has considerably improved in leasing since a year ago when I was Audi shopping.

Q7 3.0 was leasing good in Dec MF .00019
Q7 2.0 was .00093. I think Jan MF was bumped up by .00005 or more. Too many Q7 on Dealer lots you should be able to get discounts like 15%-20% depending upon your location. But Q7 2.0 is definitely underpower if you compare with X5. Not as Sporty as X5 but gives you 7 seats and Technology is nice.
I think if you go by a broker you can get a good deal on either Q7 or X5.

So I assume that means you’re not looking at the SQ5 then? The Audi (S)Q5 and BMW X3 are similarly-sized vehicles that are both about 10 inches shorter, 4 inches narrower, and 4 inches shorter than is the BMW X5.

Thx for the input! Definitely moving up to the Q7 size ! My wife wants the next size up from the SQ5. So will

continue pursuing the Q7 and X5 m40 version. Never used a car broker? What should I be looking for in one ?

There is no X5 m40, there’s an m50, but will most likely be out of the price range your mentioned above.
