Audi maintenance inspections mandatory?

We have an Audi Q4 e-tron. The inspections are a joke, they are expensive, and it’s a PITA to take the car in. The language in the lease says we have to do all required maintenance. Are the inspections considered mandatory maintenance? It’s not like they’re doing anything to maintain the car by looking at it…

You should be able to email or call AIM inspections. It’s done for free.

What inspections are you referring to?

Ahh. I see the confusion… thanks.

There’s an inspection in the maintenance schedule at 10k/1 yr, and 20k/2 yr. The car reminds you of this when it’s due. We did the first one, and they charged over $100 and kept the car for a whole day to do basically nothing (visually inspect the high voltage connector). It’s a waste of time and money, and I’ll gladly ignore it if it doesn’t cause a problem for me at least turn in.

Keeping up with the scheduled maintenance is required in the lease. You could potentially be charged for it at the end of the lease if not done per the schedule. You do NOT have to use the Audi dealer for the service, but I am not sure who else is qualified to service your EV.

Your Audi dealer did not offer a loaner for the service?

In the future, with Audi, it’s usually worth getting Audicare for the RV bump alone, but it would cover stuff like this.

If it’s in the maintenance schedule, it’s required for you to do.

No they didn’t have a loaner, and they literally kept it all day for a 15 minute inspection.

That’s the crux of my question - is an inspection considered mandatory maintenance? I understand keeping up with maintenance - failure to change the oil (in an IC engine) for example, reduces the life of the engine, and therefore the value of the vehicle. Looking at it (literally looking at it, and nothing else, which is what this inspection is) does not affect the vehicle.

I’ve been trying to get through to Audi CS to ask, but just getting a message that they are closed due to an emergency.

Not looking at it and allowing a damaged part to cause further damage does though

I suppose. Seems like a cash grab. This is my third EV and the only one that requires 2 inspections within the first 20k of ownership (the others both require zero).
