Hi, My son is ready to return his S3 lease and the original tires were summer tires, now He has all season because for work he had to relocate from Cali to Colorado.
Do you think AUDI will have an objection if I return it with the all season?
Thanks for your input.
I’d imagine as long as they are the right speed rating you should be fine, tirerack.com will give you the OEM spec’d tires. Looks like the all seasons were an option, so just make sure they match that spec. 18" shows 92H and 19" shows 91Y
Since I have been leasing cars for a long time and have returned them with no tire issues (bought used tires when required prior to turn in), I would not worry turning in the S3 with those tires. But since I have never leased an Audi (by choice), not sure how anal they are on tires. I guess once your son performs the pre-lease return inspection they will note it on the paperwork.
the issue is, I am trying to return it at the dealership early to take advantage of a pull ahead program for another Audi and I won’t be able to do an inspection before…
My inclination is that if you are using a pull ahead program, then won’t give you static on the tries, since they do sell S3’s with all-season tires, and they are putting you into a new car.
Of course, there’s no way to know for sure. Stranger things have happened. If you’re nervous about it, you can always call them and ask.
on the all season now, the tires have the same specs and speed rating, (they are way more expensive tires) Conti vs original Pirelli
Personally I wouldn’t worry about it(but I’m just a dude on the interwebs)
Like @joeblogs said, if the all-seasons were an option on the car, then similar spec A/S tires should be fine.
I really doubt he’s going to look up the Monroney to see which optional tire your car had.
If you’re doing lease pull ahead, you have some potential lee-way in terms of taking it as is.
On my mother’s 2016 A4 had some pretty significant front bumper cover rash from scapes against a wall. It was a white car and then black plastic was showing so it was pretty noticeable. But since we were leasing a new 2018 Q5 at the time, they said that they would take the car as is and not charge for the damage.
I really doubt that they would look that closely to the brand of tires. As long as the tread is within the service limits and matching, you should be ok.
In addition, you can schedule the pre-return lease inspection within 90 days of return.
As long as the tires are the same size and close in speed rating, and in good condition no one will care. Even if they are not matching VAG won’t care. The cars just go to auction anyway
