My FJ MBZ guy is now offering me “insane” deals on “Mercedes Benz company owned vehicles” that executives get…not even registered or something like that he said…he called Brass deals, like upper brass. Heard of this before?
yes there is a website where mb auctions demo vehicles that dealerships can purchase. dealers have been doing this for EQS for 2+ years for their “insane” prices.
Yep generally they are about one year old CPOs with 10K or less miles. I bought my wife a GLC this way at 12-13K off original sticker.
Yeah, the term is “brass hat” … which is an idiom for a corporate fleet car.
Sometimes they were just driven by a corporate VP for a few months on a company car program. Or they were used at the corporate level for marketing/promotions. But in a few instances they are demo/pressers that may be beat up. It’s hard to tell.
The common thread for them is they’re usually highly optioned. Since they’re basically “free” cars for a corporate person as a perk, they usually have a ton of options checked. Or if they’re pressers, they’re in the “cool” build configurations with upgraded wheels and Mercedes MANUFAKATUR (aka DESIGNO) options.
One way to assess if this Brass Hat is one you really want to own long term is to look at the second row B pillar footwell. If you see a ton of scuffs from big feet that couldn’t slide in the rear seat well on both the driver and passenger side, then that car was beat up as a presser/junket thing and gave lots of rides or was a buck to test the interior feedback. I’d stay away from these just because they’re kind of passed around and beat up.
If the scuffs are only on the area for the drivers door, then it was just a company VP who got a discount Benz on the company car program.
Generally speaking, they aren’t leasable though.
There’s no shortage of non-brand new vehicles in the Marketplace
Loaner, demo, brass hat, what difference does it make. This tale is as old as LH.
But it doesn’t mean a sales guy blowing smoke will give you a LH deal. As always compare to the marketplace.
Under 10K miles and you could lease them.
You still can . Call Eric Rosenthal at

Tell him I sent you
Good luck @gixxer …
I still think it’s just easier to take the MB loyalty to a new spicy AMG EQE lease though.
Yea thanks…this thread has been amazing and very educational…My sales guys says when he gets the Brass Hat deals in the next week or so I will have the pick. Now I really hope is an AMG.
Thanks you. I am super interested now, as I might possibly be able to get into an AMG.
IMO it’s unlikely the brass hat deals would be cheaper than those deals I posted above from the LH broker/dealers.
Although you’d need a AAA membership or some way to get the full fleet rebate.
