Audi A3 & A4 lease HELP!

Hey guys I need help with leasing a car cause I have no idea if it is a good deal or not.

So it is August 2018 right now so Audi is trying to get rid of their 2018 models for their new 2019 models. (so it should be cheaper than usual)

I went in and talked to a dealer and I found an A3 and A4

First, the A3’s MSRP is $38,800 (link to the website for specs and options included)

Discount : $4,300

Net: $34,500

Doc fee: $600

DMV fee:$100

Tax: $230

Acquisition fee : $900

Residual $19,415

Money factor : 0.0007 (my credit it above 700)

So it came to $521/month for 36 month with $0 down payment (10,000 mile/year)

Second, the A4’s MSRP is 41,700 (link to the website for specs and options included)

Discount : $4,000

Net: $37,700

Doc fee: $600

DMV fee:$100

Tax: $220

Acquisition fee : $900

Residual $22,101

Money factor : 0.0011 (my credit it above 700)

So it came to $567/month for 36 month with $0 down payment (10,000 mile/year)

Since this is my first time leasing/buying a car, any help would be appreciated.

Specifically how much more discount can be negotiated?, what fees I should look out for?, is the monthly payment calculation correct?, Or overall your opinion on the car?, Is this a good deal?

Also on their website, it says that their lease special for A3 is $339/ month with $3200 down payment and A4 for $349/ month with $3500 down payment which was the reason I came in the store for but the dealer said it is IMPOSSIBLE and it is only a marketing tactic from the manufacturer. I am so confused b/c the price that i got from the dealer is a lot more expensive than the advertised. Someone please explain if this is something common or not.

I appreciate your help in advance.

I’m certainly no expert, but here it is quite easy to say “no deal” - those prices are rip-offs. You need to ask yourself a few questions: 1/ Is it important to pick the car up in NC? Can you go up to NY/NJ/PA to pick up the right car? 2/ Does it have to be an Audi? I personally would very much want an A4 TQ but the lease quotes I’ve got have been so bad that I have given up. Acura? The TLX is good value. Or if you are ok with a smaller car the Infiniti QX30 is a lease bargain. Need European, perhaps a Volvo or Alfa?

Dig around here, and be prepared for working with lots of dealers to find the right one - or just pay the very reasonable broker fees and have a pro do all the work for you. It will save you many thousands vs just signing the papers at the first dealership.

So what do you think would be a good sales price? also is there any incentives for audi lease in NC?

It’s hard to get “great” Audi deals outside of Southern California and NY/NJ. The prices you quoted are a) bad for an Audi and b) atrocious for a $40k luxury sedan. The biggest problem is your discount just sucks. You are only getting $1k off. Remember, because Audi has lease cash, the first $3k in discount isn’t a discount per se, that’s an automatic $3k off from Audi.

Must you absolutely have an Audi? Keep in mind Audi vehicles generally do not lease well. Would you consider an Alfa Romeo Giulia? The Alfa dealer in Greensboro is high volume and gives them away. You will save thousands over the life of a car for a luxury sedan that is highly praised like the A4.

How do you find out if there is a 3000$ lease cash in NC? Is there a website that I can check?

They can confirm it for you in the Edmunds forums, but pretty sure it’s $2,500 (not $3k), though they are covering the first month payment too. So in effect about $3k, though the first payment covers up to $800.

I’m going to sign a lease at month end on a $48.2k A4 (on Long Island). I had an extra $1k targeted rebate but even without that my discount to MSRP was about 14%. when factoring in the $2500 rebate.

Those numbers are awful. I am in NC too and am looking for something for my wife. I have found with my last few cars the deals have been elsewhere. BMWs haven’t been leasing as well as years past but you can still get a good deal on one the last 3 series sedans. It may not be as up to date as the A4, but you could order one and pick it up at the performance center in SC and you would be right around $400 a month for a mid level car. More or less depending on engine and trim. Or look into retired loaners. There is a ton of information here on those.

Usually these are the types of numbers you get when you walk into an Audi dealer. You can get an A4 2.0T Premium Plus 49k sticker, for 39/15k at $580 a month with 0 down, taxes and tags included.

Following this thread as I am looking to help a friend’s daughter lease an A3 in North Carolina…coincidence that a thread on point was right on page 1. Being in Calif, the NC market is a mystery to me. Her first “offer” from a dealer was atrocious…putting it mildly.

Got a deal down today for A4 FWD Link Here (I know its not quatrro but i test drove both and didnt think it was worth extra 4000).
I got down to 460$/month for 36 month 10k mile/year with 0$ down.
First Month Payment Free
MF 0.0005
MSRP 41,700
Discount 6,400
Net 35,400
Residual 22,101
Doc fee 600
DMV 105
Acquisition fee 900.
Zero Drive Off
I think I negotiated around 130$ monthly from the first offer.
Should I pull the trigger?
North Carolina Market

Also 2500$ rebate Audi Lease Cash is included in the discount

Just because you negotiated $130 off a ridiculous monthly, doesn’t make it a good deal. How does the $6,400 discount break out between the dealer discount and lease cash? They have this car listed here:

https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/new/searchresults.action?sourceContext=homePageNewCarTab_false_0&newSearchFromOverviewPage=true&inventorySearchWidgetType=AUTO&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity=c26836&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity2=&zip=27616&distance=100&searchChanged=true&modelChanged=false&filtersModified=true#listing=212366834

It says a great price is $36,066 or less, and that’s without any incentives and that it’s been listed for 39 days without any price change. Edmunds - https://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/49278/audi/x/2018-audi-a4-lease-deals-and-prices - looks like it shows a $2,500 lease credit. So it looks like a great deal with the incentive would be $36,066 minus the $2,500 - $33,566.

The doc fee is also very expensive.

Also, I suggest purchasing AudiCare, if they can confirm that it bumps the residual up 1%, it will make your maintenance costs over the lease ~ $300 or so.

Since the first payment is free, and the MF is so low, I would roll everything into it.

Finally, have you entered all your info into a lease calculator to check it? You want to be sure to check their arithmetic.

Yeah this is what I got from the calculator Link Here

2500 lease cash rebate was included in the discount
Also it seems like I can’t get anymore discount as I have contacted 5 different Audi dealers and they refused to match/go lower. Is it because of the NC market?

FWIW, I had to go to ATL to get a deal on a purchased Q7. NC (Charlotte specifically) dealers were not playing. Audi North Atlanta hooked me up.

The discount to MSRP, when you back out the $2500, isn’t awful - it’s just over 9%. With the $2500 rebate, it’s a reasonable 15% (and the free first month payment effectively works out to about 1% more discount). The issues I see are the high doc fee ($600, or nearly 1.5% of the car price) and the MF. If the MF isn’t marked up, then it’s higher for a FWD model than a Quattro model (or higher in NC than NY). For Quattro, it’s .00033 in NY area.

Yeah I know for sure that the Doc fee is not marked up because I’ve received a quote from all 5 Audi dealers and they were the same $600. Also the MF @ NC is around 0.0007 when I asked on edmunds

Still trying to help a friend with an A3 lease in NC (Durham area). Man, it sure isn’t Southern California.

Please post if anyone manages to get a decent lease on either car in NC. I tried in Charlotte on an A3 a few days ago on 35,320 MSRP and they used a 46% residual and .00117 MF. $2400 dealer discount, $3400 in rebates. 36/10K with $0 DAS still came to $497/month.

So 6.7% under MSRP before incentives. RV is set by the captive…I’ll have to look at Edmunds to see what the base MF is. Can you do MSDs to buy down the MF a bit? Audi RV’s are absolutely horrible…in the 40’s no matter what mileage assumption is used.

Forget it. Look at the A4. It will save you money, cheaper to lease with its higher residual. A3 leases suck.
