You mean do this lease? Just want to be clear because Max said I should buy it which I am never doing again!
Max does have a point. However, I am a firm believer on leasing a luxury brand. Maintenance doesn’t cost as much and if it breaks down, you are covered under their warranty. But when you buy, well.
Buy it and be under warranty the whole time. Trade it in 4 years or extend the warranty if you want to.
I’m going to agree with Max on this one. Buy it and keep it for 4 years. Finance it with a local Credit Union.
I sincerely appreciate your advice Max!! Thank you!! Sorry for all the questions but …
You got me thinking after you told me not to do it. I was thinking the exact same “why wouldn’t I just buy it and sell it when the warranty is up or trade it in at that time?” Then I was thinking "but why do 78% of people who drive a Mercedes Benz (BMW close to this number) lease and not buy them. What am I missing? It is driving me crazy!!! LOL
I see in other scenarios Lease Hackers telling many others who lease Mercedes or BMW “yes do the deal or that is a good deal”. Just wondering about the reasoning? Is my deal a terrible one? Am I paying too much for this car, can and should I ask for more off if I were to lease it? Is the model a bad car to lease (too high for not enough bang)? In what instances does it make sense to lease a Mercedes or BMW. Sorry for the questions, I just cant figure out where I am going wrong here. Please let me know, it would REALLY help!!
Thanks so much for your input Batistuta! See my questions to Max. If you would like to answer, please do:)
Because most dont take the time to do math and figure out the cost theyre paying to offload the depreciation risk to the bank.
That number can’t be right. When leasing made sense over buying it was like ~50%. Regardless: When leasing is cheaper as defined by TCO, why would you buy? Well now the converse is true.
I don’t think you’re “going wrong.” The issue is fundamentally about how much you value the $ you are/were planning to send on this car. The only person who can decide that is you.
It doesn’t necessarily matter why other people might buy or lease. Understand the general arguments for and against both and then decide what makes the most sense for you.
The vast majority of combustion vehicles won’t make sense to lease in Texas.
IDK how much more explanation you need about things outside your control. You can realize it is what it is, or start reading Leasing 101 on this site to understand the fundamentals that result in this outcome.
TLDR, buy the CLA or lease an EV with Texas sales tax rebates.
