Leasing new 2024 Blazer EV for 24/10k. Dealer is offering rim & tire protection for $995. And also excessive wear and use protection plan for additional $.
Does it make sense to purchase from a dealer?
Is it possible to purchase after driving off of the dealers lot from a third party?
Arent they 19”? Thats not a lot of padding. but 995? You going to scratch up all 4 wheels?
And @spartan-1 , you might want to check the wheel portion, the autonation warranty i just looked up does not cover accidental scratches just road hazards.
Check your local tire shop franchise, some will sell you hazard certs for your new car tires for less than the price of 1 for 3 years
Generally, wheel/tire is only available when you purchase it and from the dealer. Now are there exceptions, yes, but they are often more expensive and you need to get an inspection.
$995 is reasonable to me. That is about what I have always paid at employee pricing. Now, if it is worthwhile to you is another story. $995 is probably 2 tires or 1 tire/rim and some curb rash. If you are going to exceed that, then it makes sense. Otherwise, curb rash is usually $100-$200/wheel to fix. I know some people who hit every pothole in sight and go through 3 tires a year and others who haven’t got a flat in a decade.
Gotta ask. On my last car i paid $100 to Americas tire/ Discount tire to road hazard mine for 3yrs. As a single tire costs more than that, i feel it was worth it.
So I ended up purchasing the following protection plan with RoadVantage Preferred Plus Ultimate for $603 for 24 months. I think it’s worth it, but I am open to the thoughts of others. I can cancel it anytime within 60 days with full refund.
