So they ran a special a week ago, We jumped on the promo,
was online as $698+tax, they then call a couple days later after we put the deposit down and said price is really over $800, The price shown online did not include doc fee’s which seems pretty shady to me. So anyone that has leased in the past did the online price match up?
Are you getting bait and switched by an online only brand?
Doc fees are $85 in CA. It couldn’t have just been that. Did you read the fine print for the offer?
There is no fine print on Rivian web site like others do, but they want $1800 for the doc fee
The $85 is that a CA law, (hope so)
Yes, it is a law in California. They must be including other fees such as the acquisition fee, registration fee and sales taxes on the rebate amount in the $1,800.
The fine print on Rivian’s website includes the following: “Add’l fees due at signing include tax, title, license, registration, and lessor documentation fees.”
There is fine print on their current deal on their website and I bet it was there for your deal as well. Deals are never advertised with only a monthly payment (ie $698+tax).
It’s the $1,800 destination charge. Like Tesla, they like to advertise MSRP before destination. The actual price on the window sticker (as well as the agreed upon value in your lease contract, and the figure used for estimating registration fees) will be $1,800 higher.
They advertise lease pricing based on MSRP’s before destination? Whhhaaaaaaaaat???
Not to detail this thread, but I test drove an R1S yesterday in MA. I didn’t talk numbers with the sales rep. He was very informative. I wanted to check out the interior finishes, material quality, user Interface, ride quality and general info.
thanks,
That destination ads $120 per month
Unless you have a 15 month lease, it does not.
The actual monthly payment probably includes the monthly sales tax. The up front payment is the acquisition fee, likely up front sales tax on the fed tax credit, doc fee, and the first year of reg. At least that’s how my up front costs worked out.
