Anybody else pass on March 31 frenzy?

You’re going to see pricing both retail and on this forum rise drastically. The broker pricing i have seen so far today is a dramatic price increase, pretty much across the board. So yes, significant inflation right away.

Ok but then I’m confused about this statement

It sounds like based on your words, which I am not disputing, the manufacturers are going to keep it business as usual for the most part. It’s the dealers that are going to try to play this as a Covid 2.0 and scare people into impulse buying.

What difference does it make who fuels inflation? The manufacturer or the middleman? Inflation is inflation.

I wonder how Nissan / Infiniti plays this out. They clearly dont have deep pockets so does this situation put an end to their misery ? Still like the new designs they have finally decided to come out with after decades…

Because they’re a net exporter of US built vehicles?

Just saw they dropped pricing on Rogue and Pathfinder… grasping for straws

You’re right, it doesn’t make a difference to the consumer. But then we can’t really call this a result of tariffs if the importer is not actually passing the cost along to the retailer. It seems that retailers are going to just use this issue to maximize profits, which is their prerogative however disingenuous it might be as to the reason.

If it’s true that programs remain unchanged and European manufacturers are going to ride it out, then this whole crazy exercise seems to be a bit of scare tactic.

Sure, some in SC, but they seem to be pushing out more L VINs recently…S90, S60, XC60, EX lines.

In fairness, my wife drives an XC90, and she would divorce me if I took it from her.

That’s interesting to hear @aronchi as you’re close to it with your dealers. Are you seeing or hearing this pretty consistently from all of your dealers and brands or is it your educated guess?

Have April programs been announced yet? How are they looking ?

IF April programs/incentives are not reflective of these scary tariffs, then dealers and brokers alike are just living up to Churchill’s “never let a good crisis go to waste” philosophy. And people are buying it (bought it) hook, line and sinker.

Upsetting, tbh.

Pretty sure the dealers have a vested interest in trying to move as much metal as they can ASAP. They’re going to talk up the doom and gloom bc they’d rather get out from under cars in their lots.

No one knows what will happen but generally betting on long term financial calamity does not work out.

I don’t see a reason anyone who doesn’t immediately need a car would make a deal now bc of these tariffs.

The one who enacted the tariff knows what will happen tomorrow, whether he can predict the repercussion, no one knows. But hey, it’s much easier to blame the greedy dealer & broker, might as well blame the janitors too.

Not true - dealers have slowed down sending cars to auction

Dealers want the fed to lower the rate

I’m not blaming them, I’m just saying they clearly want to sell cars, let’s not pretend that doesn’t exist

Why sell today at discount when tomorrow MSRP is 25% off

Reaching out to dealers in this environment is prob brain damage lol

Dude I couldn’t even get a loan let alone find a dealer willing to sell a X7 for less than MSRP in NorCal.

Can we be liberated yet?

Aren’t these predominantly used cars ? Do they auction off new cars commonly ?

So cars they were offering 10% off on are now sticker?

You’re correct- used cars

Ya - marketing optics - only thing that may help is floor plan cost is still high so they may not be able to sit on units
