Any VacationHackrs?

October and November has some great rates for Napa (SFO) from the tri-state NYC area… $250-277 PP RT.

For your 1st time you will want to see and experience all the usual Vegas stuff, but if you have the time and inclination these two pit stops are very worthwhile:

Churn credit cards is the answer. Depending on your destination, will determine which points to get. Asia, Focus on transferring to Singapore, Eva, Cathay Pacific, or LifeMiles/Virgin to book ANA or AA to book JAL. Europe, Air France and Iberia have cheap redemptions business class to Europe.

Africa, Book Qatar with avios or AA to fly business class to Africa with layover in Dubai.

It’s how I flew Singapore Suites for $7, Emirates First class for $87, Swiss First class for $43

Chase/Amex/Capital One/Citi cards to earn transferrable points.

Thanks, I used to transfer my chase points to United & book them for my asia trip. The recent United devaluation is horrible. I’ll check transferring to those asian airlines instead.

If you have never been, keep in mind that Napa/Sonoma are equally accessible from SFO, OAK, and SAC. From East Coast hubs I imagine SFO is the best bet, but at times I’ve had a lot better luck and pricing on air/cars from one airport over the others.

I have stopped at Hesperia Walmart, Barstow Walmart, and Baker.

I would strongly suggest to use the one in Baker. When I went on Thanksgiving (very crowded), there was 1 hour wait time in Barstow. Hesperia was also crowded. Baker one is huge and had few minutes wait time. Avoid Barstow for sure.

Thanx-I actually used the one on Mojave Dr at the 76 Gas Station in Victorville-it was empty. Stopped at Hesperia WM but there was a maintenance guy in a Ford Lightning working on the LAST TWO available chargers…so I just continued about 7 more miles up the 15. I could’ve made it all the way to Baker but this was too easy… Now I stopped again at Primm and charged to 90% again so I don’t have to charge in Vegas at all :call_me_hand: just stop one time on my way back on Wednesday at Baker and be done.

The Barstow is always almost full, so I avoid it.

Well, going back to VEGAS in AM, got a room at The Palms for one night using my Expedia Cash Back and all I pay is the resort fee…$48 tax included.
Craved some AYCE SUSHI at Sushi Neko so decided to just go for a day/two. Adding more miles to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 to get my money’s worth for the lease $88/mo :joy:
Should be in low 100ºF
