Any VacationHackrs?

Scoot was the spirit air equivalent I guess. Everyone was super nice but they didn’t feed us like AirAsia and vietjet. Which were even better.

I did lose $300 bc I had to book an out going flight from Cambodia and AirAsia had no way for me to cancel within 24 hours. Bad move on my part bc I didn’t know how long I was staying and assumed I could cancel or change the flight on booking.com

Stayed at the sands in Singapore for our splurge hotel. It was incredible. My wife looked up the bedding bc we loved it and the comforters are like $3000 mattress over 10k. Not happening

I feel in general our airlines AND airports are farrrr behind the times, especially considering the level of country that we are (or were??)

Scoot is the budget subsidiary of Singapore airlines. It’s more like southwest or jetblue instead.

Siem reap and Cambodia in general was the surprise of the trip. The city was immaculate and organized unlike most of the places in Thailand we went. I did love Thailand regardless though. It was hard to stay for 5 days in Singapore after $1 beers and $5 meals for a month. I should have gone there first. Beautiful city though.

Air Asia and Viet jet was def more plush so I would compare them more to jet blue/soutwest

The only good thing about US airlines was the points and redeeming at their alliance. With the downgrade, I have to start buying flight instead for my asian trip :stuck_out_tongue:

5 days is too much for Singapore, even for 1st time visit. I love Singapore and will always transit there on my southeast asia trip, even then, 3 days are the max I will stay there. After getting my favourite food, there’s not much else to do.

We got there late and I have a 4yr old so there was plenty to do and we did a chill day in sentosa/hit water parks etc. if I was alone I’d def agree. Plus one day at the sands we just wanted to use the amenities and relax as well

Beers for $11 at 7/11 was rough tho haha. Same tiger cans I was getting for $1 in Thailand too. The hawker spots were all like 15-20 for meals too

Doubt you would be wasting a full day at the zoo and night safari either!

$15-20 seems like food court at the mall in orchard area instead of hawker spots.

I went to the ritz carlton in Singapore. It’s amazing there.
My mom hated Cambodia though. She went with a chinese tour group so who knows lol

Any hacks for car rental in Norway? Looking at 4 day rental from Bergen to Oslo in August, best I have seen is about $1100 for EV.

We also enjoyed our stay there.

Also got a great deal through Amex FH&R.

I fruitlessly put in quite a bit of effort to identify and buy the exact mattress in the US for our house.

Need to add more miles to my Hyundai Ioniq 5…:joy: so heading up to Big Sur, Hearst Castle (may skip it this time, seen), San Simeon-Elephant Seals Viewpoint etc for an overnight scenic ride-tomorrow morning (Monday) and return Tuesday :call_me_hand: will see how EA stacks up on this trip

Going to vegas (1st time) next week for business trip. Will be staying at Caesars palace, im planning to rent out a car for location visits and evening hang outs with wife. Debating if i should go EV or ICE. Spoke to hotel was told theres a EA charging stations in parking lot. Anyone had experiences there if it’s congested or not? Thanks

Unless you have status with the resorts, parking is $$$ and pretty distant walks. Get ICE if you have to; charging at EA is very difficult and always congested. I used to charge only after 11pm at the spot behind Caesar’s. Otherwise, long lines always. Enjoy Vegas… we go 2x/year usually :joy:

Sounds like ice it is. Parking cost wont be the issue since im expensing it. But its my 1st time and i really dont wanna spend time at the charging stations. Thanks for the tip

I am assuming charging was a pain? How did it go?

ICE for sure. Driving around Caesars is already a hassle.

Not at all, quite frankly was very easy-charged in Morro Bay and no wait at all… checked app for EA in SLO and was always empty… the one in Pismo Outlets is usually the busiest but they only have like 4 chargers there.
I’m heading to Vegas in the morning-today, taking the Ioniq 5 again. Planning to stop at Hesperia Walmart for a quick charge (190 miles from Vegas) is what I did last time too-one charge only.

@NYCLaborer79 The Caesars EA has never been busy for my needs/times, I check the App and usually avoid PEAK hours at any charger anyway. Last trip I charged around 11am and there was no wait there… walked inside the Forum Shops and used the restroom/walk around. Just FYI this charger is only set for 80% max charge, also Treasure Island and the Fashion Show Mall (can’t park overnight tho) has FREE parking available-in case you end on that side for closer walking to Wynn/Encore… Resorts World just unveiled FREE parking till August

P.S.: My suggestion if you rent an EV to always get a TESLA as charging in Vegas is better for Tesla Superchargers and some hotels have FREE Tesla chargers too (Plaza Hotel in downtown has them)
