Now that the new Chevy Bolt 2027 is arriving on Lots.
Has anyone here tried one out yet?
I gathered that the seating quality is sorta meh, and compared to the Equinox and the Blazer, this is really more like their little cousin that will vanish in a year.
Obviously no real deals yet on something that just got released, but AFAIK this is the smallest EV with an opening Roof and range. (The Ioniq 6 has it as well but is really long and is discontinued as well, Kona is skipping 2026 and I can’t find a Niro Wave on lots)
56% RV and 0.00326 MF doesn’t help it much either. No other incentives except for GM Card and Supplier related discounts.
Motor Trend was pretty ambivalent, saying that front seat comfort was an issue and that ride quality was a mess. But then noted that a cheap EV isn’t such a bad idea right now (but stated that they might go instead w/ a Leaf).
I was considering one later this year (when I might be in the market), but front-seat comfort and ride quality are two big things for me.
I had also been considering a Prelude, if those things ever get heavily discounted, but I read that, for $43K, you don’t get power seats. That’s not a deal-killer by any means, but that’s super annoying.
My first impression is that it’s DOA between the Leaf, the CHR and its Subaru twin among consumers who get information from traditional sources and compare value by comparing MSRPs.
Among savvy buyers it will depend on lease payments but even then it will be challenging to beat a $150 BZ or $199 RZ among MRSC (medium range, slow charging) EVs.
I didn’t get a chance to get into a bolt but I really liked the new Nissan leaf! Most comfortable car I’ve ever sat in. However, the deals were garbage/nonexistent.
That coincided with the “new and improved” 2026 version which may have helped sales a bit. But I have no doubt that inventory will pile up again.
And again someone savvy can take over a 2025 RZ lease if they have the intention of buying an entry level EV and get equipment levels of a fully loaded Leaf for the price of a barebones Leaf.
Hmmm…. Maybe a strategy to take w/ the upcoming MB CLA (more waiting for a used one to pop up in a few yrs and trying to find a cheap lease to tide me over until then)….
I think the current situation in the middle east is really going help EV sales, bet all these EV’s coming off lease are also going to be really attractive to buyers. When gas is $5 to $6 a gallon, EV’s start looking fantastic. Glad I don’t have any ICE vehicles anymore
