Ally won't tell me the payoff of the vehicle

Hey hackers,

So I got a quote for my Alfa Romeo 2018 from VROOM after seeing one of the posts here. They offered me 26k, I am already running over miles so I wanted to sell it so I can get something else (4-5 months left).

I called Ally to get the payoff of the vehicle since online it wouldn’t show it and they told me (3 times, different agents) “We don’t have a license to sell in Florida to consumers, so we can’t give you price”.

Highly confusing, since I told them that I am not buying from them, regardless, they said “only the dealership can give you a payoff of the vehicle”

Now, it get more confusing because VROOM was able to get the “payoff” and they told me only 2.6k USD, the rest should be equitity to my end. This can’t be right, since this is a lease, so I am suspecting that amount is the one due for the lease not the actual payoff.

This post got too damm long. TL:DR I want to sell this car (currently a lease) but Ally won’t tell me payoff because I am a FL resident. Any suggestions?

Side note, I got the lease from a dealership up in Erie, PA a while back from a guy here which I lost the contact.

Unfortunately this is a reality of being in florida

@Justin_Sutton he works there.

@mllcb42 does that mean that I am fucked? or that i wil have to blindly sell the vehicle or expected the best?

Ohhh @Batistuta I think that’s actually him. @Justin_Sutton can you guys help?

Have you contacted a dealer, per their instructions, to get the info?

3-way call with vroom and Ally on the line.

I did, called the local dealer and they told me they will call me back if they can get the information. They never did, so I called again and they said the same thing

Possible the local dealer doesn’t have a relationship with ally

I suggested VROOM to call them, they said they don’t do that. Not sure if me being included would change that

probably, I actually think the best approach is with @Justin_Sutton assuming he still works at Erie.
