Affordable Car To Lease Right Now?

I’m looking to lease my first car, I’ve never done it before, I’m just looking for the cheapest monthly payment.
Preferably an SUV, family of 3, but it could also be a sedan. I’m open to EVs.
Currently, I have a Hyundai Elantra worths $5K, which I would use as a down payment to lower the monthly payments.
I’m in central Florida. Any recommendations?

Nissan arriya

There is typically not much incentive to put money down on a lease. You can use some of it for taxes or drive off fees if you wish. If the car is totaled you are unlikely to ever recoup that 5k. Leasing market is pretty bad right now and cheap leases are a thing of the past for the most part. An EV like the Nissan Ariya particularly in states like NJ are your current best option.

What’s your budget? How many miles do you drive a year? 10k?

$300/month, I usually drive around 10K-12K miles.

The only thing that is $300 is a Vinfast EV. Bump up to $350-400 and now you start to get into other cars

Well, I have $5K for down payment, on a 36-month lease, that would be approximately $140/month, wouldn’t that significantly lower the monthly payment?

Don’t do down payment on a lease. You got into accident and total, there goes your money.

Unless you can do a one-pay… then you get a pro-rated amount of money back.

@Kater832 needs to replicate this FL deal hah (but with a Grand Cherokee).

Did you look at the CX-30 or CX-50? I think @AutoNinjas had some deals posted on their FL thread

Aside from a few EVs this is the worst segment to lease in. When all is said and done, you’ll probably have paid $14k to lease a car that was selling for 28 or less, and you’ll have no equity to roll over into your next car.

That kind of rent:price ratio only makes sense to people who also rent their furniture and the TVs in their apartment.

LMAO Oh boy Max.

Put your $5k in your pocket, savings, CD, etc, unless you are worrying about budgeting your money. Putting down MSD’s are a better option if you want to apply money to your lease if the manufacturer allows them. In your case at that price point they are probably not an option.

2023 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S
Lease: 24 months / 12k miles
I got the deal from my local vw dealership, so don’t know it can be real?

An ID4 Pro S is still an expensive EV. Check out the Kona and Ariya first.

Well, if cheapest is the primary criteria, she should check Vinfast

For any car it’s important to check insurance premiums before signing but doubly so for such an unknown brand.

Plus how much does any time away from work cost the OP if it breaks down?

I think a bare bones CX-30 can be had in the low/mid 300s from a motivated dealer…

Relative just got a leftover 2023 Sonata SEL w convenience package/pano roof for $325 month including NYS sales tax with $1000 in drive offs. 36/10k.
