Afeela (Sony Honda Mobility) prototype

Ophelia? Oh, Afeela.

Kind of looks like an Ioniq6 from some angles… And like a concept car from the 1990s from others.

Not Afeelan it.

Why the yoke? And doesn’t Honda/Sony know that SUVs are in demand?

So is the Apple car going to be next? There have been rumors for years that Apple was looking for a company to build an Apple car.

Toyota/Lexus has also shown future models with yokes.

So am I the only one that sees this as a Lucid clone based on the exterior design?

It’s so bland I can barely figure out if I like it or not.

Why do they insist on making EVs look like something futuristic. Just make them look like normal cars.

Yes… but doesn’t answer why?

Elon Envy?

I don’t think yokes are practical… am I the only person who one hand steers from the top of the wheel on a corner turn?

I think the “Prius effect.” And maybe now the Tesla effect. I think there’s an idea that EVs will sell better if they make is obvious that they’re “different.”

I agree with everyone. It looks like a Lucid, Model 3, new Prius, etc. And EV makers are jumping on the sedan bandwagon because M3s sell so well. A Mazda 3 hatch or cx30 EV with 300 mile range would be nice.

No. But it looks “cool.” And who’s going to care about driving when Level 5 is just around the corner? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, seriously, why you still holding your steering wheel.

Not sure if there’s already another thread on this, but…

I hadn’t realized that the yoke was the ONLY choice for the S and X previously and that blinkers and windshield wipers stalks had been replaced w/ capacitive buttons (it’s bad enough to get rid of HVAC controls, but basic safety things like wipers and blinkers should NOT be capacitive).

Any California residents thinking of placing an order? It looks slick, but not for nearly $90k.

The 90k version is showing estimated availability in 2027. The deposit is refundable, and according to the website, “Being a reservation holder also gives you the keys to access exclusive events and opportunities to experience the vehicle.”

Other than taking advantage of this benefit (and then getting a refund), I can’t see any reason to place an order.

Hmm let’s see $90k for a sedan with 300 mile range that should be delivered in two years without a luxury brand badge. Why would anyone buy this over Tesla, Lucid, BMW etc is beyond me…

The MSRP can be whatever they want it to be. I don’t care about the $90 sticker if the RV is $70 and there’s $18+ in rebates lol

the sony vision-1 concept was way better looking imho, and probably would have been cheaper. sony should have made that.
