Advice on leasing a compact SUV - Hyundai Tucson Hybrid blue deal check

With a baby coming this spring, my wife and I are looking to upgrade our lil Ford Focus. Originally I was planning to purchase a Tucson PHEV and keep it long term, but over the past month I’ve been researching, the dealers are getting more aggressive with the ADM (up to $10k in Colorado Springs LOL).

So now I’ve been researching leasing more and looking at hybrids.

I found a dealer that would do MSRP (well, msrp plus the floor mats etc) but even then the lease deal isn’t great. CALCULATOR LINK

I can’t get the calculator to match this worksheet they use:

Selling price: 31445
Money Factor: .00192
RV: 61% ($19181)
Denver, CO sales tax: 8.8% :cold_sweat:
10k/36mo
no incentives
credit above 750

They are using a .00192 money factor (4.6%) but when I checked Edmunds forum they told me .00159 for zip 80211. About $700 difference - is that worth trying to negotiate with the dealer?

When looking at the deal, do you ever factor in the possibility of the car being worth more than the RV at the end of the lease? The used market is wild right now but even in three years I have to think a hybrid suv with 20k-30k miles will be worth more than $19k, and that would greatly reduce the total cost of the lease. Or is that wishful thinking?

Anyway, you’ll probably tell me to run away from this deal. But to what? We have a couple months, but things don’t seem to be improving. Are there some sleeper mid-size or compact SUV options? Honda Passport? Kia? Unfortunately I think the Jeep 4xe backseat looks tight.

I’ve been talking with a couple of the great brokers I’ve found here, and really appreciate all the wisdom from the community. I’ve never leased before so I would be lost without it!

Maybe order a GC 4xe?

Look at this exactly like if the selling price was $700 over msrp and negotiate accordingly.

Look into something like a VW Jetta, it has a lot more rear legroom than a lot of these “SUVs” which will come in very handy when the newborn graduates to a RF convertible seat at around 10-12 months.
