Advice on a purchase of a Polestar 1

This probably the 1st time this weird beast has been mentioned here. I test drove one and am smitten. Can anyone here talk me out of getting one and point me to an alternative? Price is a little under 100k and the car was never registered. Not a lease - a regular purchase and I will finance.

If you’re ok with the TCO including the large depreciation then go for it. Also check insurance costs before committing.

Thank you. Well, how much more will it depreciate is the question. Will it go down to 70 and stop there? or 50K? I am talking about if mileage remains relatively low. Some predict it will become a classic haha

Sure, in 30-40 years

My best guess is you can find one in the mid 80K (or less) if you shop hard enough…

The Polestar 1 is a great looking car… but it was a dismal failure in the marketplace!

It has a very complicated drivetrain… this is the kind of low production vehicle that get stuck in the repair shop waiting for parts to be shipped from overseas…

It is an incredible vehicle IF you want a GT car. For the money I would take it over a db9 (2014-2016)/ Jag ftype/ 8 series (toughest call)

I like the plug in hybrid, the comfort the power and the LOOKS.

I was thinking about how similar it is to the DB9/virage but to me much cooler car. Jags are totally not in that league In my opinion.

This is my favorite color

Shut your mouth. Nobody thinks about the virage, in fact its a mirage. Nobody should mention the name, hopefully the price will continue to fall on them

Yes that’s possibly true. At least many parts are in the Volvo part bin, but some are unique I am sure. Dismal marketing failures don’t scare me. The LFA was a failure too. I remember the reactions Back then. Try getting one today for less than 700K. Not saying this will ever become an LFA in terms of desirability, but many desirable objects begin life as undervalued

Question is - will Polestar dealers (who adhere to a one price policy) be open to lowball offers?

what is the worst they can say? no?

They said no and it got sold the next day :frowning:

hahah, yes, I guess you want one!

And it takes a very very long time for that to happen.

Every Dino “Ferrari”
Jag XJ220
Merc 190 SL
2+2 V12 Ferraris
Porsche 912

And those are the ones that belatedly got some respect. There are many that never got any. There’s a good 30, maybe 40 years of Jag and Aston products that get no respect. Front engined Porsches. I don’t agree with the last one but it is what it is.

I had a 968 for years that i loved. Sold it maybe 8 years ago. It’s worth easily 3 times what i sold it for now. They seem to be creeping up.

huh?

Ford GT
458 Italia
EVERY manual lambo made since 2000

I had a 968 too. Very fun car. As for the Polestar 1. They are in the Hertz rental fleet. Just wait and buy it off them.

These are cars that got no respect when they came out?
