Advice / help with issue with broker deal

Thanks for bringing the receipts on the mid-month program change. Unfortunate on the timing due to IFS.

He informed me after I had submitted the credit app - that’s the issue.

I stated to them they need to improve their processes, communication to the leasehackr community.

It’s a privilege for a dealer / broker to be on this platform. We are highly valuable marketplace that spends

Transparency and ethics should be the foundation on what business should be built on here.

I don’t understand why this is an issue.

Eh, I think a lot of people really consider something locked in upon running someone’s credit. I’m not one of those people who avoid hard pulls, however I’d be annoyed if this happened.

In fairness to Integrity, it really was a mid-month change which is odd to see. One of the premises behind LH is not to get surprise fees / costs once you get to a certain point in the process ( I.e. After credit is checked ).

I get that, but the credit was pulled on the morning of 09/19 (Fri), and it looks like the program changed… on 09/19. I have no idea how far in advance the dealership was informed about the program changes and how quickly such information is typically distributed w/i this dealership, but, if the dealership was notified on 09/19, I could see why the credit might be pulled by a salesperson before everyone at the dealership had been learned about the program change (esp since the interaction was essentially a continuation from the evening before).

Disclaimer: I have no idea how a dealership works, so perhaps the work flow and dissemination of information is very different from how I’m envisioning it is.

So as I said above, once again an entire thread of less than all the facts from both sides with a broker/dealer or someone with a business getting called out with a lack of facts - maybe their fault and then again maybe not.

Yes and no on the hard pull. If you let it happen before the surprises are completely eliminated (if such a thing is ever possible) then it is really on you as a buyer IMO. I always make certain the entire deal is solid and on all fours before the unlock on the credit freeze and hard pull.

Typically, new programs are not announced ahead of time. The dealer would get the notice on the day of change, and by the time the information filters down to the salespeople/F&I in the trenches, it’s often later in the day or the next day.

Maybe I’m a novice, but I assume - based on my limted experience of only buying/leasing five new cars in my life, that once you agree to terms in writing and then pull credit, the deal is ā€œlocked inā€ no more changes/asks from either my side or the dealers.

I could be wrong, and if I am, I’ll chalk this up as a learning experience.

From everything I’ve read on this thread so far it appears it’s a really unfortunate experience in which IFS changed the program on 09/18 and took away the $1000 incentive. In this case the dealer wasn’t willing to eat it and if I was a consumer I wouldn’t either. It would have been nice if they would have offered to split it but obviously that isn’t the case here.

We’ve seen dealers and consumers be willing to not move forward over $100 before so I get where both sides are coming from.

What was the idea behind sending screenshots via text of locally based vehicles ( MI, OH ) to a dealer in NY?

If those dealers would have done the deal you were looking for, you wouldn’t be getting one from Eastern NY. One of the ideals that drives dealers to come on LH is to offer a yes / no, quick, simple transaction. Screenshotting stuff other dealers are doing in a different market kind of takes away from that.

It seems like this was just an unfortunate experience with a rare mid month incentive program change that clearly drove a wedge between getting a deal done.

that’s a bit of misinformation, not even sure why that’s relevant.

I sent screen shots of cars from dealers in my area because the sales person stated that the QX60 lux trim did not come in red and I had to choose another color. I wanted red but chose green since he had in stock.

He was clearly wrong, looked it up on the car builder on Infiniti and sent him screen shots of Deep borders Lux trim Qx60 sitting on lots in my area.

later he admired over text that he said this just cause he wanted me to choose a color in stock.

Not gonna post screen shots because that would be childish..

I reside in the MI/OH area I chose this broker/dealer simply because they had the best deal even after factoring in shipping.

Nothing worthwhile to see here at all.

Mods should lock and probably delete this thread.

I was personally hoping for another Mercedes with all the wrong features delivered to a customer again. :upside_down_face:

Fair enough, sounds like dealership should have said, we do not have red in inventory and this deal is only for vehicles on the lot.

Obviously the dealer in this case didn’t disclose the context of the screenshots and I wrongly assumed the intent behind them so I apologize for that, my bad.

Appreciate everyone’s input and suggestions.

Definitely was a learning moment for me and hopefully the dealership as well.

I think there is nothing more to be added here, so I will lock the thread.
