Acura ZDX Lease to Buy / Resell

This may be a silly question but with the super deep deals on the ZDX in CA, with $6K-9K one-pay for a $70K MSRP car on these 24/10 or 24/7.5, is there really a way to lose money if one aimed to have it as a backup car to either buy at lease end or transfer half-way? With the current tariff concerns, I wonder if that residual value is grossly understated. Thoughts?

  • Acura doesn’t allow transfers
  • These will not be worth anything close to residual at disposition

Acura doesnt allow lease transfers and the value at lease end will likely be under the rv, so there wont be money there either.

It makes for a great cheap lease during that time though.

Don’t expect any money back at the end. So IDK how you’re defining “losing money” but expect your total cost to be nothing less than the one pay plus any lease-end charges (plus costs towards third parties such as insurance, annual reg, PPT if applicable etc).

If you’re ok with that total you should go ahead.

Yep nobody is going to want an off-lease ZDX in 2 years when they can go and lease a 2027 for less money.

There won’t be a 2027 ZDX. Will there even be a 2025?

It’s not really a $70K car. Why do you think they are so heavily discounted?

Just 2024. One and done.

Yes I figured as much but the point remains no juice to squeeze out of EVs.

When you are asking about reselling, do you mean flipping right away? CarMax has some sub 40K, so you’d need to get a brand new one in the low 30s to possibly squeeze anything out of it.
