Hello all, once again, I’m so glad I found this site. Learning quite a bit and glad to know that I can get good advice from you veteran hackrs.
After test driving a number of cars (RX, disco sport, GLC, MDX) my wife is settling on an RDX for her needs and comfort for a compact SUV. I’m still getting quotes, but I wanted to ask what you guys think about this offer (north jersey):
2018 RDX Advance package (10k/36 mo):
MSRP: $44,975
Selling price:$38,738
MF: 0.00096
Res: 0.6 26985
total fees (tax+fees): 3089
Due at signing: just first month’s payment $478.34
montly all in: $478.34
I’m trying to get a breakdown of the tax + fees portion to plug in to the calculator. Guesstimating numbers the calculator is spitting out a monthly payment of ~$468 all in with leasehackr score of 9.2
Rolling in taxes and fees with that money factor works out to ~$111 in interest over 3 years I believe? Should I just pay the taxes and fees upfront or is it better to roll it into the monthly payments? I know a downpayment is not a good idea in case the car ever gets totaled, but do the taxes have to be paid out even if a car gets totaled?
What do you guys think of this deal?
Well I guess my deal was too good to be true, or more likely too boring for any input!
In case this helps anyone else out. I ended paying $2879 for taxes and fees + first month and 35 more payments of $379/mo. This is for a 2018 rdx advance package (msrp $45k) fully loaded. Acura doesn’t do MSDs unfortunately, but they do one pay leases which looks like it could save me about $2100 over 3 years. I think it works out to something like 2.4% apr vs 0.4%. I’ve read a lot about the one pay leases, but debating if it’s worth the small risk of losing equity on a totaled car. Not sure if saving 2% apr is worth the risk. Any thoughts?
Reesh’s post helped me analyze a lease offer. I got RDX w/Tech - approx Sale price of 35k (msrp 40k).Down 2300 plus DMV costs plus1st month; 35 monthly 350 incl tax. MF 0.00096
I went to Acura today 11/4/2017 in S. Florida I looked at a 2018 RDX advanced tech Package.
MSRP 43,475 36X10K
Sales Price 40,350
with additional $2,500 (Rebate/Incentive)
RV 58%
MF .00062 (1.488%)
2K Total out of pocket (includes 1st payment)
397.20 plus tax (6%)
$421.03 Total Monthly Payment
Is this a good deal?
Is there room for improvement?, How much, and how to do it?
Hi Adam,
I’m not sure about Florida, but it looks like there is some more room on that deal. I was able to get it down to 379/mo on a 45k msrp rdx (tax and fees paid up front). Did you try taking this deal to other nearby dealers to see if they can beat it? I sent emails back and forth to about 5 dealers asking them to beat each low offer that I received before they finally wouldn’t budge anymore. Good luck!
I recently priced an MDX Base through an Acura dealer here in Nashville and got a deal close to this. Didn’t end up going with it in the end. Acura lease deals aren’t that great.
