they also torched the resale market.
Ya for the people who bought them full price.
I actually have access to the auction reports and they are holding very strong at auction (current average transaction as we speak at auction is 151k). The reality is this, once the few remaining new 17s are gone, 18s will be by order only. I predict the cars (as a percentage, relative to MSRP) will hold their value quite well. There simply arenāt that many of them around, and they are going to known to be very reliable as any Honda product is. I think residual values will work out well, but that is simply my humble opinion.
I would agree with you, I donāt know the specifics but the old generation NSX was always in demand. It seemed someone always wanted to buy it. The new one with Honda engineering should sustain reliability Iād think.
All you guys getting sweetheart leases now might make out even better when the car is due and they are move valuable than what you owe.
I would disagree about them keeping their value. They are not doing so now, and I predict they will not do so in the future. As for reliability, Hondas have not been terribly reliable the last few years, especially for Acura models. Now if it were a sporty SUV, I suspect the demand would be higher.
Besides the notorious Achilles heel aka automatic transmissions that Honda is known for, what other reliability issues have you experienced?
I have not experienced any personally (after years of driving only Honda vehicles, we now have a Toyota and an Audi). However, if you look at Consumer Reports, many Hondas and most Acuras no longer rate high in reliability. Checking on sites such as Acurazine confirm that there are many people complaining about problems with Acura vehicles.
Youāre forgetting a major key ingredient⦠even if (big if) Honda reliability is down lately compared to, letās say Toyota or Ford, we are talking about the NSX. Itās a supercar with cross shoppers looking at Ferrari, etc. Cost of ownership for NSX is bound to be lower than that of the average supercar over time. Iād bet on it.
i think the beauty of this lease is the $.20 mile overage. I think you buy the car, use it as a daily driver, and turn it back in 3 years from now with a crap load of miles and a smile as you cut the check for the overage.
As for what you can get deals for in CAā¦I think the best you can do in CA right now is probably about $45K off. If anybody has seen better, would be curious to hear as well.
Lots of people have gotten better than 45k, my deal came out of California and it best 45k. The deals are just a pain to work. And in reality you should be shopping nationwide, with the amount of savings some dealers give, paying for shipping is nothing.
I agree the cost of ownership should be much lower than a Ferrari or other cars of that type. I was simply pointing out that the NSX was overpriced for todayās sports car market. The fact that it has not generated much hype tells me prices are going to continue to be under pressure. One of the main appeals of the original NSX was that it was an affordable sports car that you could use a daily driver. Most people do not feel that way about a $150 to $200K car.
$60k in 1991 was affordable?
why is it that when i put this into the lease calculator it comes up with a 100 dollars less?

Im asking bc i need to know how much i can rely on the accuracy of this calculator

Try a different calculator if youāre getting discrepancies such as those described. Had a similar issue early on and it really frustrated both parties because we would always be $1-200 off in negotiations. We finally figured out some calculators did not calculate the interest correctly.
Chuck⦠The Acura 9zf transmission has been a big debacle over the last two years and has really pushed away Honda loyalists. Acura customer relations didnāt handle the issues very well at the beginning by claiming the issues were ānormalā which was infuriating and insulting to most owners who were early adopters. Iām willing to bet some of those owners remembered those emotions and let Honda have it when they were surveyed hence the lower ratings. Outside of that, the posts on Acurazine (Iām a member there) donāt seem too far out of the ordinary from typical car forum issues. All cars have problems. Now that Acura finally is making things right with a 10yr unlimited powertrain warranty on those affected cars, I wonder if the ratings will improve. We swore we would not buy another Honda/Acura after our transmission battle with Acura but here we are with our 13th Honda/Acura sitting in the garage. Then again transmissions, specifically automatic ones, has never been Hondaās strengths but in the end Honda did make things right each time. (We also had a transmission failure for 02 TL under that recall). We shall see what happens with the NSX.
Which calculator do you recommend ?
