Dealerships are mostly privately owned, so they can do whatever they want unless it goes against their franchise agreement. I’d imagine picking and choosing what programs to offer customers from the captive lender is one of those things that’s up to the dealer.
They’re offering you a captive loan and retail installment lease from AFS. If they can’t structure 1-pays to get funded then they can don’t have to offer 1-pays.
Stick with MSDs and payments or find another dealer.
Here is the response when I asked for clarification.
“As far as the one pay the one pay lease is always an issue with the contract and how it all appears on the contract so we have stopped doing the one pay and have several customers that just pay all 24 payments in advance.”
If it was a great deal, I wouldn’t care how many pays it was ;). Seriously though, with all things being equal except the one-pay, the difference in monthly payment is almost $60 ($1500 over 24 months)
I did a one-pay with Acura in 2023 for my son’s Integra. The dealership didn’t know how to do one, but I come from the dealer world and was able to show them how to structure the deal on their dealer management system(DMS). The trouble turned out to be their DMS, it had to have a download to accommodate a one pay lease and needed a rep to come out and set it up on their systems.
Having purchased several vehicles from the dealer group, they were willing to put in the time/expense. Those of us in leasehackr land know the benefits of a one pay lease, but most dealers will be lucky to have a customer request one every 10 years or so unless they’re a high-volume store in a large market, so I can understand them not wanting the headache.
Simply structure a one-pay yourself if you know how to do it. Apparently, some dealers are just incompetent. Go to another dealer who is willing to do it. However, I suggest that you get a blank copy of the lease agreement and complete it. Alternatively, I strongly recommend that you create a comprehensive, professional-looking one-pay lease proposal that is spot-on.
The professional, spot on lease proposal is how I approached them to start. In his original reply is where he stated they wouldn’t do one-pay.
At this early stage, I see no reason in trying to convince him to do something he’s not interested in. There are plenty of dealers in adjacent states if the AZ dealers don’t play ball.

That is really great info. While I don’t think I’m ready to take on that much work, it’s great to know the insider info.
