Unlikely. Maybe a little more, although x3 prices have been stupid high recently too.
Don’t forget when looking at the Volvo subscription prices that it also includes insurance, etc

X3 leases have gone way up from where they used to be.
Another knock on Tesla. From what I understand the car seat hooks are buried in the seat cushion. f—- that.
They work best when they are just under a plastic cover. Makes moms and dads life so much easier.
Whenever you install a car seat, you put ALL of your weight on the center of the seat/base with your knee and tighten that thing down so tight it won’t wiggle! It takes a couple of compressions with your body weight+ while pulling on the strap at the same time to get it that snug.
FYI when we had just one kid we always put him in the middle position of the back seat, which didn’t have LATCH. Seat belt installations of infant seat bases can be just as snug with 0 wiggle.
That’s true. Or I think you can use the two inner latches from the outside seats, yes?
All this latch and seat belt talk is making me anxious already
But you guys are pros so i know I can count on some advice
Cheers
This is a big one. Since OP only has one car he could likely drop his car insurance. That’s likely a hundred bucks a month.
You looked at the lightly used MPC market recently? I’ve been checking since family currently has just one car, an XC90 and we are soon going to need to have three across in back with some frequency. Well the rear bench is 56.5 inches and our two car seats have a combined width of 40.5 inches. Wife insists that will be fine, of course she won’t be sitting in the back.
If wife allows I’d be all about buying/leasing a lower trim pacifica plug in. They seem to be still selling at a reasonable price. But I’m sure whatever solution we come up with will be more expensive and less practical than a minivan. Cough::Tahoe::cough
Yeah I used to think the same about those features. They are imo terrible - when you are merging lanes it can mess up and it’s really jarring. The two things that I think are really important for me are backup camera and blind spot detection. You also will want to have your car seat rear facing for newborns just in case you didn’t know that already.
Only if the vehicle manual and car seat manual both say so.
There’s a geometry to these things that provide their strength and stability. If the two inner anchors are not spaced exactly apart, that means they were never intended to be used that way.
100% this. NEVER use the latches from two different ‘sets’. If not latches, just use the belt. Takes a bit more effort, but you can get it snuggles down just the same.
Prior BMW i3 driver here as well. Recently needed a car, wanted to stay in EV spaces, but didn’t want to purchase or take a 3yr-lease since good EV choices will be out mid-22. Both Leasetrader and Swapalease had many EV listers asking far too much. Found a Tesla Model 3 with FSD lease xfer on craigslist (of all places) – $400/mo with no $ down, 16-mo (remainder of the lease). Model 3 will be perfectly sufficient for couple + infant + visiting inlaws.
Thanks @sfmarkm
I didn’t even realize Tesla allowed lease transfers. Quick browsing on Swapa and most are pending or sold (even with some higher pricing)
I will check some more maybe can find something similar - for a short term I will drive one…But I doubt can find anything remotely close here in GA
Is there a name to the phenomenon where people perceive paying msrp for a Tesla is better value than paying msrp for other phev/electric crossovers? Like I try to be as rational as possible during the car buying process and I understand that msrp is a moving target ($4k price increase since March for a model y) but something just feels so awful about paying msrp for other brands when they used to be so hackable. I understand other brands still have the $7500 tax credit but that just doesn’t feel like much of a victory. Or maybe the current market has taken the fun out of hunting for that next great lease. I’m sure salespeople and brokers are tired of buyers who are at best skeptical and at worst hostile but everyone seems less pleasant. When I leased my last car 3 years ago the salesperson and I had to go to battle over certain things but at the end of the day we both felt like we came to a win win arrangement. Now everything just feels like a zero sum game. All I know is it felt kind of refreshing walking into a Tesla dealership and knowing exactly what I had to do to drive off in one of their cars. It was definitely a welcomed break from the regular dealer shenanigans I had to endure these last few months. So to the op, I think I’m ready to throw in the towel too but Tesla might be in my future, along with the 4xe that was the only relatively good hack available for my needs.
There are no victories in today’s market.
For your price range, an Alfa Romeo Stelvio is a good choice. But, I fear that dealers in your area may have any good deals. you will probably have to get it shipped from CA.
You can turn in the Care By Volvo lease early (I think it is after 5 months now) and pay a $350 disposition fee.
Alternatively, you can get a new Care By Volvo lease after 5 months by turning in the old one and they still waive the disposition fee.
Originally, it was 12 months. It was only a 4 month period earlier this year, so they might change it again.
Have you looked at leasing a Genesis Sedan? No idea just throwing that out-there, a Lexus NX? Trying to brain-storm some ideas here.
Those are BS features, not safety features. The X3 is not missing any safety features you actually need.
Wrangler is not a good option for protecting a newborn , for side impact crashes.
If you are stuck in a corner, you kind of have to compromise a little bit.
I would never recommend doing any kind of car transaction for only 5 or 6 months, you’re wasting your time, your energy, and your money.
Stinky 40 something RV’s…These would lease terribly right now.
Did compromise on the features but got a BS deal from my 10 year Bimmer dealership on the X3. (effective 680 on a 50k car).
I kinda agree on the temporary thing as I don’t see any solid market correction before a year. Still have a couple of months so trying to be patient.
