6 cylinder turbo truck issues - Tundra, etc?

What is with all these 6 cylinder turbo engine issues? Lots of videos out there across brands and this one just posted today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7LbD6L9jgM

I’ve been looking at a range of trucks and SUVs as we head toward year end, but I keep hearing about issues with the turbocharged V6 engines. At the same time, some 2021 Tundras with the V8 are selling above MSRP. Is this manufactured hype, if not it makes sense to lease right now rather than buy. Thoughts? Plus with commodity costs skyrocketing, I think all manufacturers will cheapen out on build quality.

Ram is ok with their I6 engines, not perfect on other aspects but you can now spec 2026 with a V8.

The one minor detail that sets me off on Ram is the shifter.

Tundra leases are good. If buying I offer extended warranties at cost plus $75 which is pretty insane. Most dealers wouldn’t even do the paperwork on a warranty to make $75.

Toyota is backing their product and replacing engines so I wouldn’t be too worried about it but a warranty that’s priced well is always smart if you’re going to keep it a long time. I think a lot of the bad press is just rival competition, literally every truck has bad press it seems right now regardless if it’s a turbo (ford/toyota) or the 6.2 GM motor. Ram depreciates like crazy so unless you live their design I wouldn’t go with them either.

Rebel X and RHO do have console shifter and you can spec a rebel with a 5.7 V8. Progress of sorts.

Didn’t realize that wish it were an option on the lower Trim models. I do like the basic Warlock

Warlock is the best option and it can have the V8 plus 6 seat config.
