Chasing for after Bolt deal
agreed the numbers with NY dealer.
Not sure if GM card $500 rebate is part of the deal on the lease contract or it is applied later on on the credit card statement.
Please someone can help me on this?

The $500 is a rebate on the lease contract. You have to apply for the card using the invitation link that the dealership provides and spend $1,000 at the dealership on the virtual card that’s issued immediately.

I’m trying to do a one pay. Can I apply for the cc and use it for the one pay? Do I get 500 off later in statement?

You can use it towards the one pay. Depending on the dealer they may not allow you to put the full one pay on the card, but you can put $1,000 of the one pay to qualify for the $500. The $500 is applied as a rebate on the lease, not a statement credit.

They told me I had to spend $1000 first and then get it. But I called and she said I technically could charge 1000 to get 500 off.

Also note that you can just pay the entire one pay lease using the card even if they have fees since you can redeem the GM points on the lease payment. My dealer charged 3%, but GM card pays back 7%, so another 4% off.

How can I make this deal better?
I feel like a higher priced car will have a better residual.

a few ways i think:

  1. bank fee should be $0 ( waived) - this is what was in October, maybe got changed.
  2. deeper dealer discount or more rebates.
I would send a quote with one pay You are comfortable with to several dealers, and see what they will ays.

Is it worth opening a credit card for 500 that maybe your never gonna use. But besides impacting your credit score. I just feel like its a few dollars a month vs your credit score for having another card imo

90% off LH would do unspeakable things to their own mother for $500 off…

If your credit history is so short and your credit file is so thin that one new card causes your scores to crater, you aren’t managing your credit properly.

Yes, but regardless of the their status when open a credit card or applying a loan. Your borrowing a line of credit against yourself. Like i said imo doesnt make sense for $500 to have something on my credit report thats gonna linger around for 5-10yrs.

We open several cards a year for sign-up bonuses in that range, netting thousands of dollars in cash and free travel.

I have 206 pages of stuff on my Equifax report that can linger for as long as it wants.

I’ll just add:

This thread delivers.

Why not? Unless it is going to knock you down to a lower credit tier, go for as many as you need. If your credit rating is already above 800, opening another credit card is not going to impact you score significantly.
